But you don’t know if it’s decided or not. And you don’t know what is said behind closed doors so “gutless” seems pretty harsh.
What if Mizzou runs all over UCA and only needs to throw five passes in the first half? What is considered a “fair” split, does it have to be 50-50 that way we can just stack their stats up next to each other?
This whole thread is a pre-complaint about something that hasn’t happened yet and may not happen at all. Some of you need the season to start so you can start your whining about things that actually happen.
I've told you more than a dozen times to "check the source" and you continue to ignore that.

And you did it twice in the same thread.
I’ve told you more than a dozen times that is because I don‘t care what you say. I consider your comments here to be nothing more than ChatGPT for how to be a loser but online.
What if, Horn is in the lead and Drink is giving Pribula the opportunity to catch up because he already feels good about what he has seen and knows about Horn?

Until next time.
Then that makes you more obtuse than the posters you are complaining about.

It seems for more likely that this is signal of what Drink is thinking. In other words: Horn will only be the starter if Pribula screws up badly against a 4th rate team.
You have to ask yourself why Drink plays this game with Horn every other year?

Because Horn was injured last year and he couldn't do it every single year?

I don’t understand how the idea that Drink and the staff might be more settled on a QB than they are leading on would be a bad thing?
As long as they are transparent in the locker room I’d love for that to be true.
Its not. But it is a gutless move to 'announce' it this way, to say its a competition and for it to really be decided.
I'm not saying he chose incorrectly last time he did this but that crappola between Cook and Horn where he came out after the game and said that one put up points and the other didn't when the playbook was radically different was ridiculous.
One of my only big complaints about Drink is that he sometimes lacks in bravery. This seems like more evidence of that.

I just think, if this game goes the way it should, by the 2nd half Horn will be in a position of not having a lot of opportunity to show what he can do. Unless Drink keeps the pedal down and I can’t imagine a scenario where we run up the score on Central Arkansas just to give Horn equal opportunity.
And the run game will likely be a big part of the 1st half, and frankly our offense if Pribula is under center. But there’s a big difference between starting and building that lead with the 1st team when the game is technically still a game, and coming in for “scrub time”.
And for the record I’m in no way complaining about Pribula. I hope he’s a stud. But I agree with those aggravated that this is framed as a competition when it’s clearly not. Horn has been a good soldier and dealt with a lot. He deserves better than that.
Bottom line: Both Pribula and Horn are unproven at this level. If one or the other struggles, the other probably gets PT no matter who the so-called starter is. At least, I would hope that is the case. Drink cannot afford to tank this season with the schedule still being relatively light by SEC standards.

I agree more with this. People are still fawning over Horn and worried about his playing time because we’ve not seen him in action much. However in doing so we’re ignoring the plot of has he earned more playing time? If he loses out to Pribula it would seem the answer is obvious. And the same can be said for Pribula if Horn wins out.
Winning is the goal here, Sam Horn’s development might be paramount to winning. Then again it might not matter at all. No backup QB deserves anything more than a chance in practice, the idea that not playing the backup more in games is doing him dirty is just not a take I agree with.

I don’t think either QB is going to have much to do. Or at least they shouldn’t. I just don’t believe who starts what half vs. UCA or who gets more throws in game 1 is going to be that much of a factor when it comes to who starts in Norman later this year.

Why would this coaching staff want to show a pretty good opponent coming in week 2 a lot of its offense against a blood donor?
This QB thing won't be settled for at least three weeks unless injury dictates.
I guess that's possible but Drink also stated that only one will play against kU.

I totally agree.
Plenty of time for all the complaints AFTER you see what actually happens and that might well include week #2.
Relax people, let's wait and see what is actually implemented tonight.
If Drinkwitz is being 100% honest and he is using the Central Arkansas game performance of Sam and Beau to determine the starter going forward, and I believe he is, he won’t shackle the 2nd half play calling of the 2nd half quarterback.
Maybe if we are “lucky” we’ll get a repeat of what happened in 1976 where an early season arm injury to Steve Pisarkiewicz propelled Pete Woods to the starting position.
