Seems like some nice starters coming on while
Roby, Hjerpe, and Hence heal. Especially Ixan Henderson and
Brysen Mautz.

Actually, some hope perhaps for sometime in 2026. Some won’t need a full year at AAA.MIDMOBIRDTWO wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 09:26 amSome hope for a couple years down the road.Cranny wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 09:19 am Henderson - 2.44 ERA (125 Ks in 118 IP)

Re: Springfield Rotation
How about releasing Mikolas and bringing up one or 2 of these starters for a look at the major league level? If the Cards trade Gray, release Mikolas, and demote Pallante to the pen, the Cards will need to add a number of new starters to the rotation. McGreevy and Lib, though he has struggled to get through 2 or 5 innings lately seem to be the only sure starters next season.

Re: Springfield Rotation
Glad there's some names. Although I remember the quotes from Mo at the end of 2022 saying he expected McGreevy and Graceffo to be factors in 2023. We are still a long way from having enough pitching depth from within.Cranny wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 09:33 amActually, some hope perhaps for sometime in 2026. If you’re looking, you’re not cooking. Leave them alone and let them develop.

True. Bloom’s going to need to go outside for several starters this off season. The question is whether he’ll do it by trade or sign several short term older innings eaters. Might be set initially with Gray, Liberatore, McGreevy, and Mathews for the 1st 4.
Re: Springfield Rotation
Hold everything. We need to get full value on that mikolas contract. He will pitch us into the winter, hell or high water.redbirdfan51 wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 09:34 am How about releasing Mikolas and bringing up one or 2 of these starters for a look at the major league level? Re: Springfield Rotation
Agree that the Springfield staff is where the bulk of our pitching hope lies. I, personally, think they need to just bite the bullet on Hence, Roby and Hjerpe, and put them in the AAA bullpen next year. Not sure what else they need to see to realize all three have innings issues, whether it be performance or injuries. And, they can always change their mind if they think any of them can make the jump to starter. I actually see it as a positive if they can be lights out in the BP, especially as one or more of the three can probably go multiple innings in releif.

Roby and Hjerpe have had Tommy John surgery and may not be available in 2026.DewittDaman11 wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 10:37 am Agree that the Springfield staff is where the bulk of our pitching hope lies. Re: Springfield Rotation
Henderson should be in Memphis by now. They should let him get his feet wet there.

Re: Springfield Rotation
Right, forgot about that, maybe 2027. I guess we'll be lucky to get anything at all out of any of them. Man, pitching is hard.Cranny wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 10:54 amRoby and Hjerpe have had Tommy John surgery and may not be available in 2026.DewittDaman11 wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 10:37 am Agree that the Springfield staff is where the bulk of our pitching hope lies.
