Army’s Report Card today - C+
Don’t kill the messenger.
According to Corey Pronman NY Times
The Blues have drafted a lot of quality forwards in recent years, led by Dalibor Dvorský and Jimmy Snuggerud. They have a solid system, but for a team that’s hanging around playoff bubble status, I’m not convinced there’s enough coming to elevate their club to the next level.
2024 ranking: 16
2025 NHL Draft grade: C+

I’m really glad you posted this because I rate every season not on how many games the team wins or loses, but on how some writer in NY rates our GM 7 weeks out from the season opener. Looks like we can cancel the parade.

Stay tuned for the actual games.
For the season overall last year I'd give the Blues a B+, the plus for the in-season moves, turnaround, record setting team win streak, and very spirited showing in the playoffs against a team that on paper should have whisked them away. They don't get an A unless they actually advance in the playoffs. So now ask yourself, is this team going into camp the same, better, or worse? I tend to believe they are better than an average team, but they will have to prove it on the ice.

So we can now update the flight log.
The Blues jettisoned their 2019 stars and commenced a re-whatever, and in return, we got a stable of new C+ horses.

Corey doesn't cover or follow the team very closely outside of what he's asked to write maybe once or twice per season.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 10:22 am Don’t kill the messenger.

Anything can happen during the season. I'm sure a lot of people wrote off the team while they were on the break. The players surprised everyone.

At least we can watch an elite HOFer player on our tesm every game like Crosby, Malkin, or Lemieux as the team muddles along at averge.
Oh wait. That’s how it goes for Pittsburg fans. St Louis fans get Kyrou. At least its somewhat fun until the playoffs hit.

Is Fritzs better than Ted Drewes? As a north county person I always thought they were even. I actually liked the Fritzs vibe more as well. I can say this for a fact, miss them both not being around there anymore.
What you guys think?

What is tiring for me is watching all the NHL stars playing everywhere but St Louis.SRV1990 wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 10:39 amThat idiot's schtick has gotten so worn out and lame. This is Army hockey as I see it. All that Im doing with my posts is making sure that St Louisans know the full ramifications of Army hockey.
If you like Army hockey, my comments shoukdn’t bother you.

Re: Army’s Report Card today - C+
Grading someone before they take the test is kind of meaningless. Let the season play out and grade them.
I do agree with the writer over the next couple years that we need some prospects to surprise to the upside as well as Dvorsky/Snuggerud/Carbonneau living up to the hype on here. Team will be in good shape if Lindstein/Mailloux turn into #2-3 defenseman. Having a forward prospect like Stenberg or Stancl develop into a strong 2nd line winger even if they're on the 3rd line that would create a deep F group. It's about getting lucky with a couple prospects raising their perceived ceiling. We should all hope it happens.

The ranking/rating is regarding our prospect pipeline.LGB73 wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 11:02 am Grading someone before they take the test is kind of meaningless. Let the season play out and grade them.

Re: Army’s Report Card today - C+
Here’s what Corey wrote for the Blues:
All he did was write a quick paragraph on all 32 teams and plop a grade next to them. He leads here with “the Blues didn’t have many picks”. So clearly his grade is based off that, not the actual picks made. But why were the Blues picks missing? He of course doesn’t go into that.
Here’s the actual 2025 draft haul for the Blues:
1st: Justin Carbonneau
2nd: Philip Broberg
3rd: Dylan Holloway
4th: Alexandre Texier
5th: Mikhail Fyodorov
6th: Love Harenstam
7th: Jakub Vrana
When you put it like that, how the assets were actually used, then there’s likely no team that will get more out of their 2025 draft picks than the Blues.
Now obviously I don’t exact him to count Broberg, Holloway and Texier in a draft analysis but he also shouldn’t ding a team for not taking picks with picks they don’t have. In the end though, his analysis is pretty much near meaningless but it fits the OP’s agenda so he’s going to gravitate to it like a moth on a flame.
Corey Pronman is pretty easily the prospect writer I respect the least. No one person can properly evaluate 200ish players from each draft and then an additional 4-500 players in each of the 32 orgs. But Corey pretends he can…but he work consistently shows he’s absolutely full of $h!t.St. Louis Blues: C+
The Blues didn’t have many picks in this draft, so ultimately their class is likely going to be defined by Justin Carbonneau. He’s a likable player who went right around where I rated him. He could be a heavy second-line winger for them in the future.

1. I don't need anyone to tell me what I can see and already know. Especially someone with a clear agenda and zero objectivity.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 11:02 amWhat is tiring for me is watching all the NHL stars playing everywhere but St Louis.SRV1990 wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 10:39 amThat idiot's schtick has gotten so worn out and lame. 2. I love hockey, and I love Blues hockey. Hard stop.
3. Saying "I'm just the messenger" is a cop out and further proves how mentally weak you are. You aren't remotely close to a messenger. You're a broken record, and a very bad one at that.
Bottom line: Your posts have no credibility and are made for the sole purpose of trolling. Most of us are way smarter than you, so no need to repeat the same [shirt] everyday, we already know you're illiterate when it comes to hockey. You'd do better to just stand in front of a mirror and repeat it to yourself.

Nope. As you yourself state in the OP, the C+ is his grade for the 2025 draft.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 11:09 amThe ranking/rating is regarding our prospect pipeline.
But clearly where you got this is Corey’s article today where he ranked the Blues as the 16th best org of age 22 and younger players. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/648452 ... ed_article2025 NHL Draft grade: C+
But pardon me for ignoring a guy that ranks them like this:
1. Snuggerud
2. Jiricek
3. Carbonneau
4. Dvorsky
5. Stenberg
6. Mailloux
7. Jecho
8. Lindstein
9. Fischer
10. Koromyslov
11. Stancl
12. Korotky
Has a chance to play: Burns, Kos, Mayich, McIsaac, Pekarcik, Ralph
Corey is such a Blues prospect expert that he totally missed the Blues declined to sign Mayich by the June 1st deadline, didn’t even invite him to their July Development Camp and thus he’s no longer a part of the Blues org…yet he still lists him.
Corey just slaps some cr@p together for 32 teams, it generates some clicks and discussion and casual fans lap it up unfortunately.
This is just a laughable list for the Blues. But I’m not surprised given Corey’s poor track record.
Re: Army’s Report Card today - C+
I will take a C+ from a basic press article calculation. It is a win they notice anything at all.
For simple people who just add up the picks per round and weigh them, or weigh an NHL draft or few the Blues are always mid pack. What they always seem to miss is the Blues have graduated more active players into the current NHL than any other team. (I have posted evidence four or five times, so go look for the proof. I am actually kind of exhausted that people ignore and are surprised by that fact. Fans watching just see more of our players and prospects when we watch hockey.)
The teams the press likes their prospects for are those teams that keep tanking, most of them are still waiting to be something after nearly or over a decade. It is the winning formula for Toronto, and Edmonton, and Buffalo... that last one might have been unfair.
These rankings mean little except to someone looking to make a not ever subtle point.
