Scott or Church in CF

Post by Shady »

Is it to early to decide on whom should be the starting CF? Church is going to be the superior hitter. Scott has elite speed (stolen bases) and more range in CF. Church has the stronger, more accurate arm. IMO

I sure love Scott's speed, but I think Church is the superior ball player. I think his defense is very good. His speed is still plus. Very strong arm. Much better offensive profile.

If VS can be part of a deal that returns a stud #2 pitcher, I trade him. I like Church.

Neither

Great gloves and speed, VSII can't hit and not sure Church will once league see's him.

I'm interested to see if they give JJW some spring games in CF.

Yes I think it is too early to predict.
Month of season and then ST. No rush.
Both could be on the team as I expect trades(Noot?) from their LH depth.

Vomit. Not every Cardinal suspect/prospect needs to play multiple positions

Why do you think Church can hit major league pitching?? He’s hitting .143. Please dot say he hit in the minors. THEY ALL HIT IN THE MINORS!!!!!

Lets wait til church actually hits better than scott before saying he will.

Scott and church were drafted in the same year- scott taken rounds before church, scott a year younger outhit church in 2023- while being at a higher level of the minors than church. Scott might have raked like this in minors if we didnt rush him to show last year- he rose through minors faster.

Im not saying scott is better or will hit better. But lets see some evidence of church hitting better before we proclaim it.

Not multiple if he handled it, then permanent.

He's said himself he would have no issue playing in the OF.

Not my idea, just the messenger as that's the buzz around town.

Yes, too soon to tell. Rewind to April and most of us had Scott locked in as the center fielder for several years.

No way I’m giving JJ a new position now.

Put him at 2b.

In general, I can agree.
As a guy who got bumped from 3B to 2B, I don't see it as a huge deal, it was best
for the team to get his bat in the lineup and he wouldn't play well at 2B.

It really should be based on the other players on the team and IF the moved player
still brings the best option to the team. After all bat plays in most instances. IF that
bat is limited defensively well the better athlete or newest player move.

JJ will likely be moved off SS. or Winn gets moved of SS. If the kid can bring a .800 OPS
It's best for the team to get him on the roster. On this roster .750 is an upgrade or match in all
but 4 positions. The Cardinals sometimes move players that don't field their original position all that well.
Walker, Herrera, Gorman guys. Different story then.

JJ spending a couple season elsewhere is a non-issue IMO especially if he is the better choice
of say Donovan moving to LF for a season or two.

...and then next season we can post "Church or Baez in CF?"

...and then "Baez or Mitchell in CF?"

...and then?

Agreed. He's getting Siani like hype right now from the announcers.
