Not the first hot headed Cardinal. Yadi wasn’t Mr. Cool and collected.
True. Winning makes the hothead a hero while losing makes the same guy a degenerate.
That man thought he was coming here to win and it’s been a complete disaster from year 1. I’d be (upset) too.
Well he’s free to waive his NTC if he’s that pizzed off
Could happen. Sometimes you want something to work out so much you realize you’ve become too frustrated trying to force it. I thought if he was going to crack it would’ve been on another HBP.
By no means do I approve of or defend the tirade WC went on tonight but it does seem extremely odd that he walked away without any argument of the call at home plate only to blow up well after he left the home plate area.
And if he indeed did not say whatever it was that got him tossed Marmol should be first getting him to the clubhouse so this incident never happens and then return to the field to defend him.
Again, not defending his actions tonight as they were unacceptable but certainly understanding his boiling point - as someone mentioned he’s been hit by pitches throughout the season and never defended as far as I can recall, he willingly moved to first to help the team and has been a solid bat in the lineup - yes he allows his emotions to get out of control but let’s not throw this guy too far under the bus all things considered.

How long would you suspend him?
I would give him 15 games.
Well Victor Robles got ten and he deliberately threw the bat towards the pitcher. So I can't see it being more than that.
Contreras threw it at an umpire.
Big difference.
He also threw his helmet and a bucket.
He did not. It was a toss in the direction of the umpire and others. He did not throw the bat directly at anyone. And there was very little force behind it. Had Brown been paying attention, he doesn't get hit.
That's not defending the action. But I'm not going to go dramatically overboard like you. Geez

Just a hot head and I’m frankly tired of his antics
He plays with a lot of emotion and clearly lets it get the best of him but at least he has it. All I hear is fans cry about how the players show no passion. Like you never get upset and lose your cool fans are such tools
No sir, throwing the bat at umpire and hitting a coach in face
That’s stupidity, not passion
He’s a fake tough guy
LoL...no, actually, he's a real tough guy
A fake tough guy defending another fake tough guy.
Get him out of St. Louis. He is a jerk. He swings at bad pitches all the time and gets (upset) when he is called out on a pitch at the bottom of the strike zone. He does it every game! Great role model for our kids!

Perhaps so.
However, Bown had a reasonable expectation that WC wasn't going to attempt (based on past experience) either a full- or half-arsed attempt to assault someone with a baseball bat in that moment.
The shock of the act itself helped assure someone got struck.
It was an ugly incident and Contreras deserves a fine and suspension. 15 games? Not likely - I remember an incident just over 60 years ago, when Juan Marichal hit Dodger catcher John Roseboro in the head with his bat, resulting in a wound which took 14 stitches to repair. Marichal was fined and got suspended for only 8 games. Here is a detailed description of one of the ugliest incidents in MLB history:

No kidding. I had to rewatch it. I thought I missed something. He tossed it back and it didn’t seem intentional.
He went way overboard with his emotions and will pay for it with a 5-10 game suspension and will deserve it. Emotional guys get out of control sometimes and this was certainly one of those times.
