2.8 bWAR Chris Duncan
1.7 bWAR Mike Crudale

0.2 bWAR Ben Johnson

Lots of fans went cuckoo for at least one of these players.
I like to be remembered for that time a quarter-century ago when I was good at my job.

The Pujols pick was also blind luck.

If you have any inkling that Albert puts up HALF the numbers he did, there's no way you wait until the 13th round to pick him.

Pujols was selected the 13th round. NO ONE knew what he would become. A blind squirrel something something.

Legacy:

He needed a TLR. But didn’t want a TLR. He wanted control. And loyalty.

I will also remember him for building incomplete rosters.

Handed the keys to a Rolls Royce franchise and by the time he retired he had driven it into a ditch.

Who cares?

Dave Karaff scouted Albert Pujols and was the primary reason the Cardinals got him... and DeWitt fired him in 2003. That's how little the Cardinals value the scouts responsible for Pujols.

So if the Cardinals don't value or care, why should fans?

A ditch 500 feet deep

Mo has basically rewound ALL of the work put in over the last 30 years and returned the Cardinals to their 1994-95 shape.

In fairness, the 94-95 franchise was in a lot better shape with Lankford, Jordan, Gilkey, Mabry, Morris and Alan Benes in the system to build from. Not to mention a gold glove catcher and a hall of fame manager in Torre.

No doubt LB

This is the lowest point I've ever seen the Cardinals franchise be in my lifetime and that includes the 1970's!

My gosh, that is 15 years ago. Cranny will like that comment since he lives in the past.
Says an 80 year old who likes to talk about all the old time players he met at card shows?
What are you talking about?

You say “Cranny will like that comment since he lives on the past”. Do you even begin to realize how many times you’ve talked about your past, Red? All those card shows you’ve referred to? Don’t be two faced.

His legacy was riding the coattails of Luhnow's system, TLR & Duncan's mastery, and an unreal core assembled by Jocketty.

Once those folks left, the jackass was exposed as a fraud.
