What did we learn from the 2009 draft?

1. Getting 1 Elite Player is what matters.
2. Ranking the rest of the prospects is a waste of time.
3. Army had his hand in this disaster

Army was neither the GM nor the Director of Amateur Scouting in 2009. This would be akin to blaming Steen for a pick you didn’t like in 2025. Nice try.

What we should of learned is.
Unless your first rd pick is gonna get you the number one or two defender in that draft. You should always go for a forward or center. And always the best player available.

So after the worst draft in Blues history (did they forget we just skipped one entirely?), Armstrong took over and we've had 16 years of better drafts?

And Armstrong took the least worst player drafted in the worst draft in Blues history and turned him into a franchise icon who played a big role in the only Cup they've won?

Back to mom’s basement. Make sure the paint cans are closed this time. Actually, Nevermind. I’ll just check them when I’m over later ‘visiting’ your mom.

On May 29, 2008, the St. Louis Blues announced they had named Armstrong as the club's director of player personnel after signing him to a two-year contract.

Are you saying that he wasn't in the building?

Actually, what can be learned is that Army's player evaluation of Rundblad propelled trading him for the #16 pick that was Tarasenko.

Good job Army!!

He's not even in the picture of the "article" you linked. But Jarmo sure was.

Oh...and the rest of the wiki page you copied:
When the two years were up, Armstrong became the club's general manager after Larry Pleau's retirement.

On June 17, 2010, the Blues acquired goaltender Jaroslav Halak from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for prospects Lars Eller and Ian Schultz. Although he had yet to officially take over duties as GM, this was considered to be Armstrong's first big move as the GM of the Blues.

In 2013, Armstrong was named the NHL General Manager of the Year and runner up again in 2019.

In his tenure with the Blues, Armstrong has acquired many marquee players (whether by trade, free agency or the NHL Draft), including Martin Brodeur, Ryan O'Reilly, Vladimir Tarasenko, Jaden Schwartz, Alex Pietrangelo, Jay Bouwmeester, Paul Stastny, Ryan Miller, Jordan Binnington, Robert Thomas, Jordan Kyrou and Colton Parayko. Armstrong also succeeded in acquiring Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway from Edmonton via offer sheets.

In 2018–19, Armstrong's Blues would surge up the standings for a third-place finish in the Central Division before eventually defeating the Boston Bruins in seven games to win their first Stanley Cup championship in franchise history.

In Armstrong's 15 seasons as general manager with St. Louis, the Blues have made the Stanley Cup Playoffs 11 times, making five second-round appearances, two Western Conference Final appearances and earning one championship.

The only takeaway from the 2009 Draft is that Jarmo Kekalainen was more of a petulant child than we realized.

Pure bad faith

You have to want to [shirt] on a group to do this.

To have that agenda, things have to have gone wrong somewhere earlier in your brain. Good

Not at all - reread. He wasn't the decision maker.

You can use context clues to figure this out (I taught logic and argumentation for years and offer private lessons)..

What happened to Runblad when Army became GM? Please report your findings to the full class by Monday.
