Interesting pitchers today. Good outings by the starters in Peoria and Springfield last night.

surprising K total from Winquest last night. Good for him....we'll call that an outlier.

Peoria suffers from "can't buy an XBH on a consistent basis...like ever. And don't ask me to score a run after the 5th inning"

I used to (buzz) incessantly about Patrick Anderson ruining yet another BP arm ....he got promoted, and now I realize that that was his only flaw....b/c his teams would score whenever they wanted to. His teams couldn't hold a lead b/c his relievers were wrecked by May by Overuse.

This new Peoria manager can't coach a team for the life of him.... Bad starting pitching, Bad framing and game calling from Too Short 4th Round Catcher Campos. Bad XBH across the board....the entire team is a singles hitting team who love to strikeout. It's like watching all of our 2019-2023 DSL signees play the game at the same time.... .600 OPS, 30-40% K's.

I'm so glad we have signed better DSL from 2024 on....so far.

LHP Braden Davis...entering tonight...98 1/3 IP, 66 BB, 136 K....only 53 hits. Imagine his stats with his walks at an acceptable 30-35?

Control....Braden, give us control

liking this lineup...now can they score consistently with a lineup like this?

And can the pitching hold up beyond the 3rd inning?

side Note ~ Yordalin Pena is on SERIOUS HEATER the last 5 games.

I agree.
Watched him some. His control has improved at A+ ball. The 5'11" may be generous, although he's stocky as heck (listed at 180). Reminds me of lefty Mike Hampton, who has similar height/weight. Hampton didn't throw that hard and neither does Davis - both 91-94, although Davis has thrown a bit harder.
Here's a video of the 12K game a few weeks ago, and none of the 3rd strikes seem remarkable, but the slider occasionally bites a lot, and his change-up is very good. https://www.mlb.com/video/braden-davis-12-strikeouts
But maybe he can have the right mix of slider and change like Hampton and it could work. His slider is good and he hides the ball well, bringing it back behind him - almost to his rear end. Maybe that deception explains why so many batters were swinging and missing by so much.

Springfield faces the Mariner's Top prospect Jurrangelo Cijntje...he's a Switch Pitcher from Miss. State, 2024 1st round pick.

I've seen him pitch a fewtimes in college. Always thought the RH stuff was better than the LH stuff...mostly velocity and control. But the LH stuff he's more deceptive with it.

Tyler Van Dyke ~ 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K....36 pitches, 23 strikes....there was action in the BP. So the reliever turned starter is probably done for the night.... 8 innings, 5 H, 1 BB, 7 K in his short Pro Career

Rainiel Rodriguez ~ 1-1, Single
Jalin Flores ~ 0-0, BB
