Kyrou was signed to a $2.8M bridge before he earned his current contract by scoring over 70 points two seasons in a row, including a 37 goal season and 7 goals in 12 playoff games. I'd probably rather have Nazar though.theograce wrote: ↑21 Aug 2025 16:52 pmHow is this much different than Kyrou exactly…who was signed for more?TheJackBurton wrote: ↑21 Aug 2025 13:19 pmHis statline:Greetings from Milan…site of the NHL/NHLPA European media tour. Yes, please excuse my error, he only had one PPG season with 75pts in 74 games with the ensuing 9pts in 12 playoff games on his 2-year bridge contract before signing his big deal. That is what was different.theograce wrote: ↑21 Aug 2025 18:31 pmKyrou signed a 65 mil contract on September 13, 2022zamadoo wrote: ↑21 Aug 2025 18:27 pmKyrou was signed to a $2.8M bridge before he earned his current contract by scoring over 70 points two seasons in a row, including a 37 goal season and 7 goals in 12 playoff games. Kyrou had 173 games and a PPG season under his belt at the time of his extension. This is not remotely similar.theograce wrote: ↑21 Aug 2025 18:31 pmKyrou signed a 65 mil contract on September 13, 2022zamadoo wrote: ↑21 Aug 2025 18:27 pmKyrou was signed to a $2.8M bridge before he earned his current contract by scoring over 70 points two seasons in a row, including a 37 goal season and 7 goals in 12 playoff games. Of course it’s similar. Plus Naz is a C, which holds more value in generalbluetunehead wrote: ↑21 Aug 2025 18:36 pmKyrou had 173 games and a PPG season under his belt at the time of his extension. Re: This is how you blow up salary structure in a cap league
Yes many question it and still do. But again, Nazar signed his extension after basically one 53 game season. Kyrou got a 2-year bridge deal after his ELC, and *then* got his big extension after the first year of that, when he reached another level offensively. The Hawks are taking a bigger risk here in terms of what Nazar has actually proven (worth the gamble IMO).theograce wrote: ↑21 Aug 2025 18:36 pmAt the time many questioned it and it appears the Blues do now as well.zamadoo wrote: ↑21 Aug 2025 18:34 pmYes, please excuse my error, he only had one PPG season with 75pts in 74 games with the ensuing 9pts in 12 playoff games on his 2-year bridge contract before signing his big deal. You dont just pay for points. And reaching another level? I mean he scored 74 points as a winger with little responsibility as compared to others. His game was and still is underdeveloped. Kyrou was the bigger gamble to me, we see it different and that’s ok.bluetunehead wrote: ↑21 Aug 2025 18:40 pmYes many question it and still do. Well if they question the player and don’t see the value … then yes it does. They obviously envision the team in a different direction.skilles wrote: ↑21 Aug 2025 20:34 pmIt does not at all appear that the Blues question the contract now.theograce wrote: ↑21 Aug 2025 18:36 pmAt the time many questioned it and it appears the Blues do now as well.zamadoo wrote: ↑21 Aug 2025 18:34 pmYes, please excuse my error, he only had one PPG season with 75pts in 74 games with the ensuing 9pts in 12 playoff games on his 2-year bridge contract before signing his big deal. Re: This is how you blow up salary structure in a cap league
gotta love how people continue to get baited into conversations with him lol.
6.6m is essentially expecting a 45-50 point guy who can PK on the 3rd line, or a 55-60 on the 2nd line. I think his rate last season as a rookie was showing roughly 40 point production, so they're banking on him essentially being able to add 5-15 points when he gets better linemates at his 13-17 minute ice time slot.
I've seen way worse deals out there than this one.

Re: This is how you blow up salary structure in a cap league
This is going to be a steal for the Hawks. I’d much rather commit max term to a 21 year old than a 28 year old. And there’s almost zero chance that he doesn’t over perform his cap hit with the way the cap is going up.
Re: This is how you blow up salary structure in a cap league

Re: This is how you blow up salary structure in a cap league
They’ve been trying to move on for a while. I mean Berube said things you never hear, and rookies are getting more ice in many important games.
Just because they can’t get what they want doesn’t mean they think they’d do that contract again.
Re: This is how you blow up salary structure in a cap league
It means exactly that, if they just wanted out of the contract they would be.
