It was really hard to hit 100 points there for quite some time.

if the PP can be middle of the pack and Thomas and Snuggerud can make an Oates and Hull type of connection he's hitting a 100 this year.

In 15 of those seasons nobody broke 110, so you had to be one of the top handful of skaters to even sniff 100. There has been a lot of variation over the last few decades of what the top scoring looked like.
I think a more telling way of thinking about it is how many Top 10 scorers we’ve had since then… and it’s still only 4 (or 2 depending on how you look at it).
Tarasenko - 2016-17 (75 pts, 10th)
Demitra - 2002-03 (93 pts, 6th)
Demitra - 2001-02 (78 pts, 7th)
Demitra - 1998-99 (89 pts, 10th)
Or to put it another way… Martin St. Louis had 5 Top 10 scoring seasons in that span. The St. Louis Blues had 4.

I was just surprised by how many we had between 1990-1994. I mean Craig Janney hit 106 in 92-93. I really gravitate to that time period, I LOVED Shanahan, there are a lot of boys named Brendan born in STL between 91-95. Dude bought Center Ice Hockey in Kirkwood and people lost their minds. He's the one outside of Chaser that are currently eligible I'd like to see inducted.
I'll never forget right around the time Hull got his number retired and they did a night for him where they had the Brett Hull Dream Team of all his favorite Blues teammates. It was Hull, Butcher, Chase, Cujo, Gretz, Shanny, Al, and some others. They had them all out at center ice and at one spot waiting for someone to speak there was 3 seconds of silence. One guy took his shot and screamed "I HATE YOU MIKE KEENAN!!!!" everyone lost their [shirt]. I haven't been able to find the clip.

Maybe it has something to do with St Louis having no elite talent on their team since forever?

Stop. Tarasenko in his prime was absolutely elite.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑20 Aug 2025 06:32 am Maybe it has something to do with St Louis having no elite talent on their team since forever?

Yep Green grass- all of that "elite " talent in the 90's and not even ONE Final Four appearance. How can that possibly be.. Doesn't make any sense at all does it?
The 93-94 team had numerous elite players like Duchesne, Housley, Nedved, Hull, Shanahan, & Cujo and incredibly lost to an average Dallas team in 4 STRAIGHT GAMES in Round ONE no less.... LOL

Blues fans don't care abut getting any players with any sort of credentials.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑20 Aug 2025 09:21 amStop. Heck, they don't even notice that you can't buy a jersey because you don't know what name to put on the back.
They have Army as GM, and Army is their elite skater. He is their reason for hope and happiness. Just don't ask them to know what he has said lately because they won't know.

I noticed you completely avoided my statement. That's fine, the league knew he was.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑20 Aug 2025 10:19 amBlues fans don't care abut getting any players with any sort of credentials.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑20 Aug 2025 09:21 amStop. Yep. A nhl cover athlete before they started going with the new themes (zegras and nurse, the brothers and now matty, brady, keith)TheJackBurton wrote: ↑20 Aug 2025 11:09 amI noticed you completely avoided my statement. Re: The St. Louis Blues haven't had a player hit 100 points in a season since Brendan Shanahan in 1993-94
This is one of the more interesting stats, but when you dig deeper it's really not that uncommon. In the last 20 years, only 12 different teams have had a 100 point scorer. Some of those teams like the Penguins have had multiple on the same roster.
So it is much more common for a team to not have a 100 point scorer than it is to have one. 20 years gets us all the way back when the Blues had high profile players.
The panthers are a recent team that traded away a 100 point player (got one back in Matty T) but showed that the points from 1 player isn't necessarily the desired outcome, if you can get proper production from the group. Mathew broke 100, rineheart flirted with it the next year. When you factor in things like injury 100 points become an interesting metric. Is it a necessity? Not really, it's more an indicator that you will be in the playoffs, rather than playoff success. You have to ask yourself, which one is more important?
Teams that won Lord Stanley's Cup
Last 2 Panthers teams no 100 point
Vegas no one broke 70
Colorado had the big 4 the highest was 92 with Rant
Tampa in bubble no one was pacing. Shortened season it's likely Kucherov gets there
Blues had ROR at 77
Caps Ovi 87
Crosby back to back 87 89
Hawks Towes 66
Kings Kopitar 70
Hawks Lockout season
Kings Kopitar 76
Bruins LUCIC LOL this is funny.
So as we see, having a 100 point scorer on roster is almost a negative in relation to if you are going to win the cup.

But he wasn't a top 5 draft pick, so no way could he be elite. And no way the Blues could win the Cup with him on the team. So there.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑20 Aug 2025 09:21 amStop.
