Would you do this Trade for Sandy Alcantara
Cards get Alcantara
Marlins get:
Brendan Donovan
Jordan Walker
Is it too much or not enough
Is Alcantara now too old for us at the rebuild stage.
Just curious what you think

He's owed $17.3 M for 2026
Has a team option of $21M for 2027

Donovan has the same amount of team control as Alcantara, but is better and cheaper, so no I wouldn't do that deal, let alone include Walker.
I do like Sandy as a target, but not at this price.

Well, isn't he coming off a Tommy John injury?
Obviously, this would be taking a risk.
However, I think Sandy's ceiling is much greater than either that of Donovan or Walker.
Also, there will be plenty of suitors.
Have to give to get.
Re: Would you do this Trade for Sandy Alcantara
Is this a serious question????
Re: Would you do this Trade for Sandy Alcantara
I don't think he would trade Donovan in an Alcantara trade.
I guess that is what he was saying.
Re: Would you do this Trade for Sandy Alcantara
I would not give up Donovan for Sandy, Donovan is more valuable.
Re: Would you do this Trade for Sandy Alcantara
Alcantara doesn't really align with when this team may be good again, unless they extend him through like 2030 (which I wouldn't be opposed to).
I'd do one of Donovan/Noot/Burly for him, plus maybe a Crooks-level prospect. That would serve to clear logjams on the position player side as well as address a need.
I don't expect Miami would let him go for that little though.

I see. So donovan alone is enough.Bully4you wrote: ↑19 Aug 2025 08:28 amI don't think he would trade Donovan in an Alcantara trade.

So, you think my offer is lite.3dender wrote: ↑19 Aug 2025 08:29 am Alcantara doesn't really align with when this team may be good again, unless they extend him through like 2030 (which I wouldn't be opposed to).

Rbi thinks it's way too much.
Who knows?
Re: Would you do this Trade for Sandy Alcantara
Yes, he is, and his results aren't good. His fWAR (based on FIP) is still below average.
Sandy has upside potential and that's what you're betting on acquiring him. Donovan is too much of a sure thing for me to give up on a speculative move like this, especially when there will be opportunities for speculative moves in FA.
Shouldn't there have been plenty of suitors at the deadline also?
Again, I like the player as a target (mentioned him specifically in a post a month or so ago as targets I liked), but this price is too high for me. If other teams are willing to pay that price that's their prerogative.

I think he would rather have Donovan than Alcantara.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑19 Aug 2025 08:30 amI see. So donovan alone is enough.Bully4you wrote: ↑19 Aug 2025 08:28 amI don't think he would trade Donovan in an Alcantara trade.

We have an up and comer at 2nd base.
We need pitching.

RBI thinks Donovan is too rich alone. I think. You add a prospect and say it’s still too low.3dender wrote: ↑19 Aug 2025 08:29 am Alcantara doesn't really align with when this team may be good again, unless they extend him through like 2030 (which I wouldn't be opposed to).

I’m muffed.
