They should probably be talking about contracting or at most moving... teams like Miami, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Cincy, Washington should all be eligible to move to Nashville/Portland/Charlotte/wherever

No to realignment. Mannfred needs to be forced to resign. He isn't helping the long term future of major league baseball. I am not a fan of interleague play. I could see some based on regional play. Just have each leagues divisional teams , like both central division teams , playing against each other. What I don't like is the current schedules which eliminates so many games within division rivals, like the Cubs and the Cards for example.
Re: Manfred realignment discussion
is Manfred trying to be dumber than Bud Selig?
Re: Manfred realignment discussion
He works for the owners. They see the billions in franchise fees they can split up amongst them from the new teams.

Re: Manfred realignment discussion
Realignment should be far down the list of baseball’s priorities. Until they address competitive balance issues created by the economics of the sport, interest in the sport will continue to decline. Realignment is nothing more than rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.
Why should fans in small and mid market cities continue to pay to watch the New York, California, Philly, etc with $300-400M payrolls put beat down on their team?

Re: Manfred realignment discussion
If the owners are agreed (and why wouldn't they) to add 2 teams they can offer the players association 52 additional major league salaries while they are trying to get them to accept a salary cap.
Re: Manfred realignment discussion
Maybe expansion will work if they cut the games to about 120 in the regular season so that pitching isn’t overtaxed.
Re: Manfred realignment discussion
Selig started this nonsense de-emphasizing the history and independence of the two leagues by getting rid of league presidents and introducing inter-league play. Now interleague play has been increased to the point where the Cardinals play almost as many games against the AL as against the NL Central.
Manfred cares not a whit for the history of this game. I mean if the World Championship trophy is just a "piece of metal," what is the 150-year-old National League to him?

Re: Manfred realignment discussion
So Manfred's latest attempt to ruin baseball is his dumbest. This is nothing more than bowing to the media and chasing $. Who cares what appeals to espn? That dumb[ash] network sucks (donkey). And they are out on mlb coverage after this year.
This is creating an unfair advantage for the coastal teams. The Midwest gets screwed by being placed in the Pacific Time Zone for playoff games. (bleep) on that. You can eat a [shirt] sandwich, Manfred. Shove your stupid ideas up your dumb (donkey).

Long-time Mets radio broadcaster Howie Rose reacted this way:
"This is what I’ve been telling you is inevitable for quite a while now. The American League (1901) and the National League (1876) will cease to exist as we know them. The last move before total destruction of the traditions that made baseball great.”

Also, a whole lot more Pacific Time Zone regular season games, which have already increased (along with travel) with the new so-called "balanced schedule."JuanAgosto wrote: ↑18 Aug 2025 18:41 pm

Even worse for those of us in Eastern time.

Here's hoping this plan fails to materialize. But the owners will only consider the chance at financial gain. They could care less about the fans.freed5179 wrote: ↑18 Aug 2025 18:56 pmAlso, a whole lot more Pacific Time Zone regular season games, which have already increased (along with travel) with the new so-called "balanced schedule."JuanAgosto wrote: ↑18 Aug 2025 18:41 pm
