Pribula and Horn may both play
Following the Lindenwood scrimmage, Drink says if there's no clear winner in the QB competition, both may play in game 1 and those reps would be evaluated. Both were elected Captains of the offense (along with others).

Re: Pribula and Horn may both play
Interesting call to let what I assume most of the 1st team sit to create some adversity for these 2 players.
I'm ok playing both in game 1 for multiple reasons but this team will need a strong leader at QB to make something of the year.

Of course they are both going to play.
Guys 3-4 deep are going to play in the first game.

In college football, when a clear starter has been named, the only guaranteed playing time for the backup in the 1st game is if there is a big enough lead.winonsports wrote: ↑18 Aug 2025 10:10 am Of course they are both going to play.

This is a situation where the 2 top QB’s haven’t separated themselves, so the coaches might need the 1st game to settle on who the “starter” is going forward.
Re: Pribula and Horn may both play
Regardless of a competition or not, Missouri better hope they'd play two QBs against Central Arkansas.

That is the smallest I could make that IF.Armchair QB wrote: ↑18 Aug 2025 11:41 amIn college football, when a clear starter has been named, the only guaranteed playing time for the backup in the 1st game is if there is a big enough lead.winonsports wrote: ↑18 Aug 2025 10:10 am Of course they are both going to play.

But it's actually much smaller than that

Re: Pribula and Horn may both play
You said they’d both play in the 1st game, as if that is standard procedure. When there is a clear cut starter, the backup will likely only see action if it is a blowout. When you play a weak opponent, that can happen. But it’s not like the coach will pull the starter in the 3rd quarter of a 1 TD game.winonsports wrote: ↑18 Aug 2025 13:13 pmThat is the smallest I could make that IF.Armchair QB wrote: ↑18 Aug 2025 11:41 amIn college football, when a clear starter has been named, the only guaranteed playing time for the backup in the 1st game is if there is a big enough lead.winonsports wrote: ↑18 Aug 2025 10:10 am Of course they are both going to play.

It’s only because there is still a competition and the coach has indicated they’d both play, that we can expect both to play in our 1st game.

It is standard procedure for the FCS game.Armchair QB wrote: ↑18 Aug 2025 16:06 pmYou said they’d both play in the 1st game, as if that is standard procedure. If you don't understand why it's a miniscule IF or why you even used the word, then don't try to play word games, when you obviously aren't qualified to do so.

Re: Pribula and Horn may both play
There is a big difference between entering the season with a clear starter at QB and having an ongoing competition. That you don’t understand that just shows you don’t know much about sports. Yes, if an SEC team plays an FCS team the coaches might be thinking the backup will see the field at some point, but it won’t be until the game is safely in hand. And if it’s not, the backup won’t play. It’s not a given.winonsports wrote: ↑18 Aug 2025 16:39 pmIt is standard procedure for the FCS game.Armchair QB wrote: ↑18 Aug 2025 16:06 pmYou said they’d both play in the 1st game, as if that is standard procedure. In our situation, whether we play an FCS team or Ohio State on the road, the plan might be split reps and see who shines. Because the coaches don’t know yet. Big difference than having your established starter.
You are like a bad FCS team trying to play an SEC schedule. You have a lot of “want to” but you’re just not ever going to be very competitive.

Drink and I both understand that the subject is THE first game of the season, not A first game of the season.Armchair QB wrote: ↑18 Aug 2025 19:48 pmThere is a big difference between entering the season with a clear starter at QB and having an ongoing competition. That game is vs FCS Central Arkansas.
You are fumbling the first thing one learns in first grade English. Definite articles vs indefinite ones.

Re: Pribula and Horn may both play
OF course both should play and Not Eli's usual just run out the clock INSANITY if they have big lead in seond half. Eli is arkie guy and surely is doing a favor for Central's coach by handing him this huge check. But you Pay the weak sister to come in and take a beating to be glorified scrimmage game. IF Eli is ever going to make the next step up from merely a good program builder to a real Competitive SEC HC he HAS TO ATTACK from first snap to last and let both QB's run the MU offense Full out.IF Beau starts and builds a big lead but then Horn in second half merely does a lot of handoffs and short passes then Eli will be proven, again that he is just a Putz and will never be a top HC and once again big brands will laugh at them.
So far SEC talking heads are amused by his sense of humor in rumors and how he has had good last couple of seasons but they all say they are the weakest 10 win seasons in conference and don't respect him as someone to be big factor in big games. Those two awful beatdowns by Aggies and Bama from opening kickoffs where MU didn't offer any resistance at all and got run over had them saying "same old MU and Eli" and LOLed them.
Eli did a masterclass in how to build a roster thru the TP and NIL and does have his most talented and deepest team. which is nice but now he has to SHOW the rest of CFB that he is a force to be reckoned with. I am a Eli honk and love how he has rebooted the program and improved the facilities bigtime. But this season they need to be disruptive and do things the no one expects.

Re: Pribula and Horn may both play
We’ve seen this act before. Will Horn be allowed to do more than hand ball off, unlike two years ago when the so-called “competition” extended into the first game. If not, Horn’s new name will be Charley Brown and Drink’s, Lucy.
Re: Pribula and Horn may both play
The Alabama game was NOT a beat down from the opening kickoff. It was 6-0 late in the first half when Pine decided to play the Great Pumpkin.hdhntr148 wrote: ↑20 Aug 2025 09:26 am OF course both should play and Not Eli's usual just run out the clock INSANITY if they have big lead in seond half.
