The Cardinals will finish the year with around 2.35M fans (28,800/game). This will be the lowest attendance (minus the two covid year) since the strike of 1995. If you take out the strike year this is our lowest attendance per game in 40 years.
During the stretch we have the following finishes:
1st - 12 times
2nd - 8 times
3rd - 5 times
4th - 4 times
5th - 1 time
While MLB has its attendance challenges, this will be the first time in almost 50 years that the Cardinals attendance per game is below the league average (29,200) as we now sit 19th in the league (two spots above Cleveland)
Who wants to drop a load of cash to watch guys who cant make routine infield throws? Or strike out with risp? Or run the bases like little leaguers?
And to top it off, support an owner and front office that gaslights the fans. Arrogance, stubbornness, and raising prices while cutting payroll doesn't entice fans.

Went to the game on Friday. Have been a die hard fan my entire life. I have never been so bored at a MLB game in my life. This team is infuriatingly (not sure if that's a word) bad! No stars to watch. Who wants to spend $200-$300 to take your family to a game for that? Prices are out of control and the atmosphere SUCKED! Worst feeling I've had as a fan in my lifetime. Minor league games are more entertaining than that, honestly!!
Also, the fact that over half the crowd were Yankees fans was even more disgusting! Ownership should be EMBARRASSED!!!!

I think they are 26th in largest contract ever handed out. All those years of great attendance, but they wouldn't try to get a Harper or get Scherzer. Trying to get by in a bad division. The fans wised up and were sick of the arrogance of Dewitt and Mo. They killed the golden goose and I saw it coming years ago. You had to go aways to screw something up this good but they did.

I wonder why?....an out of touch owner?... an idiot Mo-ran POBO supported by front office (donkey) kissers!
I believe they are watching soccer or sitting in their air-conditioned house because food prices and inflation is eating them up financially.
Valid points , but I would also add the exceedingly hot and wet weather as factors. I assume the AC is what you. Not to mention the Cardinals do not have super stars and the team's record speaks for itself.
This season was an obvious "test the waters" for ownership to see if they could spend zero money, not put out a fun product and see if the baseball fans still show up. They probably have been told their entire lives that Cardinals fans will always show up no matter what or there is nothing else to do in STL than watch baseball during the summer.
