I really think he was trying to throw home for some reason. Luckily it didn't cost us.
Mental error.
I’ll give the kid a slight pass in that it is his debut and he’s pumped up.
But....why aren’t the infielders all yelling “second base!!!!!”??????
Exactly. And the infielders didn't have hands up to signal where to throw.
That was my thought.
Mental errors all around!
Laziness. Unfocused play. Happens too often. But some on here says oli does a good job. A good manager and staff doesn't allow that (bleep) to continue.
Agree
Players make mental mistakes but this team lacks basic fundamentals and that has to fall on the Manager and his Coaches to a fairly high degree.
Along with poor baserunning and lack of hustle at times.
Yes
Their base running almost to a man is very poor.
My Wife would show better judgement coaching 3rd base than Pop if she was given 30 minutes of preparation.
Plate discipline is poor across the board and that includes veterans like Arenado, WC, and Noot.
Not sure about “lack of hustle”?
To me they seem more tentative and confused.

Times where guys could be safe if running balls out. Nootbaar could've taken two extra bases on a ball the Yankees threw away that rolled from the 1st base dugout to the 3b side of home plate.
