This "Boring -ss Team"
I agree with Bernie in his salty assessment of the Cardinals. FWIW I am considering posting as Cookie Monster for the rest of the year to stay somewhat amused. Me not like team. Need more power. Me want better pitcher!

This is 100% behind the attendance issue. Who is anyone's favorite player on this team? What jersey of a player would you even buy for your kids? I don't have any answers to either of these questions and neither do my two teenage boys. It's a boring, starless team.
Re: This "Boring -ss Team"
Mmmm. Even in me first game in 70s Cardinals have good players. Templeton, Hernandez, Brock, Simmons, Martinez, Forsch, Vockovich, Fulgham. Now me no.see good player.cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑17 Aug 2025 17:19 pm This is 100% behind the attendance issue. Who is anyone's favorite player on this team? Exactly. And in the 90's when we had bad teams we still had McGwire. Our best hitter is Alec freaking Burleson. That's not good.Mort Gage wrote: ↑17 Aug 2025 17:22 pmMmmm. Boring begins with The Marmot.
Lifeless manager - except for the few moments he intentionally plays the clown role.
Team will not have any energy, any imagination, any aggression until he is just a really bad memory.

HOW IN THE HADES WAS JOHN MOZELIAK ALLOWED TO KILL THIS FRANCHISE?
Don’t the owners understand they are losing young fans. My 8 year old ( the age I became a Cardinal fan in New Orleans) grandson sent me a video of him in a Judge jersey and Yankee cap sweeping the floor including a Cardinal hat I gave him.
His two favorite teams are the Yankees and the Dodgers because of Judge and Ohtani. We have lost him forever as a Cardinals fan and it kills me.

Me agree. But Mo not get dynamic two way players too.

DeWitt must be senile, or he has simply lost interest in anything other than counting the money he has in the bank already.swatski wrote: ↑17 Aug 2025 17:49 pm HOW IN THE HADES WAS JOHN MOZELIAK ALLOWED TO KILL THIS FRANCHISE?

No other explanation for Super Slo Mo not being fired long ago.

Re: This "Boring -ss Team"
I’m right there with you Man! I have 6 Grandkids and 5 of them have had varying levels of interest in the Cardinals. Three of them are starting to lose interest, a couple of them will watch part of the games, one doesnt watch. One still likes to collect cards and other things Cardinals and watches most of the games. The last one is almost as bad as my son and I are at collecting Cardinal memorabilia, and watching the games. However, Bobby Witt jr. is now his favorite player and Tatis is second. It was Arenado a couple years ago, and then Masyn Winn, but no longer. The DeWitts better get their heads out of their rears and swallow their egos and get the Cardinals back to where they belong. No body should expect them to spend like the Yankees or Dodgers, but they have to make an effort to compete. The Cardinals ARE loosing young fans and it won’t be easy to get them back. Especially the longer they wait to start trying again!swatski wrote: ↑17 Aug 2025 17:49 pm HOW IN THE HADES WAS JOHN MOZELIAK ALLOWED TO KILL THIS FRANCHISE?

I don't think you could have asked for a healthier franchise to inherit when Girsch tookover in 2017. (Wth did that guy ever do btw? was he just a figurehead for Mo to deflect blame upon?) They had won their NL leading 11th WS just 6 years ago, been to the WS and playoffs multiple times since the previous WS win, and won over 100 games in 2015. Had an extensive pipeline of talent coming up in both position players and pitchers, attendance that averaged over 35k+ a night, and after suffering through the pandemic, the team and franchise were back on top again with Pujols' chase for 700 and a division title in 2022.swatski wrote: ↑17 Aug 2025 17:49 pm HOW IN THE HADES WAS JOHN MOZELIAK ALLOWED TO KILL THIS FRANCHISE?

Obviously, in hindsight, the issues began when Mo traded away Aroz, Gallen, and Alcantara, but it's hard to believe a franchise with such a solid foundation could fall so far so fast. I really think extending Oli after finishing dead last sent a message to the fans and perhaps to the players that, winning isn't the most important thing anymore.

Re: This "Boring -ss Team"
The success of Larussa, Jockety and Luhnow, and the resulting fan support was something the owners took for granted. Somehow Moe convinced DeWitt that he was some kind of genius that would just keep the World Series rings coming. It's become obvious that he just created a slow, expensively wasteful slide into what we have now.
