I think Church had to be placed on the
40 this off season anyway.

Apologies if wrong

First, hope Church is really coming up, as haven't seen a link yet.
Second, VS2 is doing fine in his rookie year, with a +2.3 bWAR, which is only one of 3 Card position players with a +2, with Winn and Donovan being the other 2.

So assuming Church is really up, let's see what he can do with his first MLB opportunity.
One thing the Cards need more of imo is base stealing with the new rules, that aren't really that new anymore. Some teams, like the Brewers, Reds and Cubs have figured out there is now a bigger advantage with the SB.
A potential future OF including Church-VS2- Baez could provide some SB skill as another weapon to have available.
No, Argo is not doing fine...he's all glove, no stick. Learn to bunt and he will succeed. 77 OPS+ isn't doing fine
Compared to 2024 some very strong progress by VS. Prais worthy coming
from the depths that he came from.
Increased his BB%, BA, OBP, OPS. and his OPS+ was 40 last season.

I'll be optimistic, probably hopeful my error, for continued improvements. Besides an
elite glove and speed doesn't have to start to have value. Room for both these players
on a roster. Church seems more of a Nootbaar replacement if he can do MLB to me.
Argo should be concerned...he's not a Snoot replacement...

Scouts have long lauded Church’s elite speed, a 70-grade tool that makes him a constant threat on the basepaths and a superb defender in the outfield. His range on defense combined with a strong arm makes him a legitimate asset in the outfield. During Spring Breakout, he showcased his cannon arm with a 99.7 mph throw to the plate, the fastest by any Cardinals player in the Statcast era.

Yes. Pitchers arm.
I received information here on him after I posted his scouting scores that showed a 50 hit and 40 power.
That poster said scouts still had him as between being a pitcher and a hitter at that time. That since that time
his bat has developed. Since, I really haven't observed Church play other than ST where he looked good,
I take what others bring unless it proves to be wrong.

I'm probably wrong but if Church can play MLB, 1 of the $3 million 28 or 29 y/o become trade chips over
VS2 a player profile that they have always wanted going back to Pete Bourjos and just 24 y/o

Happy for Church. He's had a great year and earned it. However, I wouldn't get too excited about him. He is what he is and he's never had an offensive year like this in his minor league career. I hope he proves me wrong.

Either way, it's something different, so at this point in the season, that's about as exciting as it's going to get for me.

Church had 242 plate appearances in 53 AAA games and batted .335 .400 .521 .921 so this is not really rushing him.

He was conquering AAA so he should ready for the next step up.

As someone mentioned. He's never been a great hitter until 2025. Don't know what happened.

Maybe he actually got coaching and development?
