Would love to see Wetherholt at bats over Gorman and Nootbar!
Bring him up, (bleep) it! Winning trumps all other interests…at least it should!

Oh I’m not saying have to keep noot I’m saying JJ isn’t an outfielder and it wouldn’t be a good idea to call a guy up who is a rookie and throw him in the outfield when he’s an infielder to try to adjust to major league pitching and learn a new position60 year Cardinal fan wrote: ↑15 Aug 2025 22:17 pmYou are higher on Noot than I am.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑15 Aug 2025 22:09 pmI don’t think JJ would be in the outfield over noot but yea replacing Gorman would be no loss

One guy is not turning around this ship. So, to say you want JJ brought up specifically to add to the win total, you’ll be disappointed to learn that they’d have about the same record with or without him over the next six weeks
Bringing him up would have to solely be based on what’s best for his development

You can't know that for sure. Sometimes it just takes one player to provide a spark and some momentum.woofy25 wrote: ↑16 Aug 2025 05:51 am One guy is not turning around this ship. With the Mets free falling, somewhat similar to the Braves in 2011, you just never know.
Imo JJW will develop just fine whether in AAA or in STL. I think he's earned the promotion.

That would be such a Mozeliak thing to do. Bring the kid up and plug him into an unfamiliar defensive position. Mozo has a history of ramming square pegs into round holes. Matt Adams and Tommy Edman to the OF. Matt Carpenter 3B, 1B, OF. Jose Martinez, anywhere that suited Mozo’s whim that particular day.
Sigh. I can’t wait for October 3. Chaim Bloom has a huge task ahead of him. Hope Bloom has a big BROOM to sweep out this mess.

It’s amazing how people on here think they really know if JJ is ready or how he fits in the overall plan.

Let the get get to know his teammates, the city, find a place to live, learn big league travel, the media, ect...........
Like M. Winn, it will give him a HUGE leg up in 2026 when he's the starting 2nd baseman.

How did it give Winn a leg up? He's not performing up to last years statsrockondlouie wrote: ↑16 Aug 2025 08:50 am+100000000000000000000000000000

Winn got that call-up in 2023 (.172 .230 .238 .467).scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑16 Aug 2025 08:56 amHow did it give Winn a leg up? He's not performing up to last years statsrockondlouie wrote: ↑16 Aug 2025 08:50 am+100000000000000000000000000000

In 2024, which of course is the next season when he was the OD SS, he slashed .267 .314 .416 .730.
HUGE improvement.
ML teams do this because they know it gives the young player that leg up the following season, it's more of a comfort thing.
JJ, like Winn was at SS, is a (likely) known starter in 2026 as he will be the OD 2nd baseman.
Bringing him up let's him get to know his teammates, the city, find a place to live, learn big league travel, the media, ect........... Like M. Winn, it will give him a HUGE leg up in 2026.

That’s ultimately true. You can’t know for sure. I’m agonistic to the JJ situation. Don’t care either wayJDW wrote: ↑16 Aug 2025 07:22 amYou can't know that for sure.
