Ryan Suter is, afaik, a UFA. Kind of surprised they didn't at least offer him what they did last year, and what he more than earned - league-min plus incentives.IsDurbanodoingtime wrote: ↑14 Aug 2025 11:10 am No injuries on D we are fine. No math or calculations necessary, what do you think?

Bolduc on the depth chart was by all appearances behind Kyrou, Holloway, Neighbours, and potentially Snuggerud by preference, and the veteran Buchnevich.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑15 Aug 2025 16:53 pm Show me a person that is excited about Blues hockey, and I'll show you someone that is not paying attention to the great things that are happening on the other teams in the NHL.

Re: No math or calculations necessary, what do you think?
Last year, I was over the moon when I heard we had offer sheeted, not just Holloway or Broberg…. but both of them.
I watched the ‘24 finals much harder than this years’. ‘24’s was epic and watching two kids play awesome hockey for the Oil was inspiring. Holloway had one bad game and came back the next game like T J Oshie in a smaller and faster body.
I believed, even with Bannister coaching, that we would make the playoffs.
Now, with Monty and Fowler and the new kids… I see us in the second round and possibly in the Conference Final this season. It would be a miracle if they won as these guys- and Monty- still have things to learn that you only learn when you come close.
This team will need a stout-hearted leader who will perform in the playoffs and as Seattle stated I believe it will be the time Colton Parayko steps it up all the way. The Four Nations Tournament got his tinderbox lit.
For the third time, I predict Logan Maillox’s sweater is a big seller by Christmas.
I think Dvo will stay in Springfield to work on playing C on a North American Rink. He is smart and has wicked skills but last year was his first on the smaller rink and Center ain’t easy for veterans to play well.
I think Dean impresses at Camp but starts at Springfield and puts up a season that squares him as a top prospect.
Binner will continue to mature and still stay a (child born out of wedlock).
The Radio Guys will bring a more “Bro Culture” vibe than the family friendly Kelly/Panger years.
We might wind up liking them.
I predict Kyrou will get better in the “desire” department in the playoffs. One of the greatest sights to see this year will be when Kyrou battles hard shift after shift as Holloway is healthy and Kyrou’s pride forces him ratchet up his game. That is not a bad thing and I could see it when it happened this year.
I predict I will (bleep) people off again, but that is not my prime ambition.
LGB!

Yes, he was, and if the guys ahead of him had performed up to expectations he might still be buried, that's the way life works. Who knows, Cranley or Zherenko might be better someday. Maybe you would have traded Kyrou or Holloway instead?theograce wrote: ↑16 Aug 2025 10:06 amBinnington was 4th or 5th on the depth chartDawgDad wrote: ↑15 Aug 2025 17:41 pmBolduc on the depth chart was by all appearances behind Kyrou, Holloway, Neighbours, and potentially Snuggerud by preference, and the veteran Buchnevich.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑15 Aug 2025 16:53 pm Show me a person that is excited about Blues hockey, and I'll show you someone that is not paying attention to the great things that are happening on the other teams in the NHL.

And sometimes players outperform their evaluations/pecking order. Brett Hull was once way down on a depth chart.DawgDad wrote: ↑16 Aug 2025 10:18 amYes, he was, and if the guys ahead of him had performed up to expectations he might still be buried, that's the way life works. Re: No math or calculations necessary, what do you think?
Not really. If the players were 27 years old or drafted in the 4th round sure. But we are talking about young 1st round picks. Not saying he will, but it’s going to blow your mind if Bolduc turns out to be a more valuable player than Snuggerud or Kyrou?netboy65 wrote: ↑16 Aug 2025 12:51 pmSometimes, sure. Re: No math or calculations necessary, what do you think?
Brett Hull was excised from the Flames for the same reasons the Oilers turned to veteran UFAs and left the offer sheet kids dangling, they were in a window focused on winning a Cup not on developing their young talent. [Flames certainly handled the situation more effectively]. I seem to recall many initially thought the Blues overpaid or flat out got fleeced.netboy65 wrote: ↑16 Aug 2025 12:51 pmSometimes, sure. Re: No math or calculations necessary, what do you think?
Yes, Bolduc could outperform Snuggerud or whoever throughout his career. By the same token, Mailloux could eventually become an all star level dman for 10 years. That trade was a big gamble. The Blues, like many teams, need a young, talented right handed dman to come through and be an impact player. Hoping it works out for both teams. I like both players.
Re: No math or calculations necessary, what do you think?
I don't think any Flames fans who were part of that run would give any of it back.
Re: No math or calculations necessary, what do you think?
Wait…you think the blues or the flames thought he was going to be pushing Gretzky all time records that will never be broken, scoring cup goals, being a playoff monster and be one of the best ever to play?DawgDad wrote: ↑16 Aug 2025 13:02 pmBrett Hull was excised from the Flames for the same reasons the Oilers turned to veteran UFAs and left the offer sheet kids dangling, they were in a window focused on winning a Cup not on developing their young talent. I know the reasons he was traded…has nothing to do with what I’m talking about.

Binnington won’t need to protect him like Broberg
