That's quite a disparity. And it's getting worse. Interesting that they are hitting worse now than they were like a month ago. Something's got to change.

Odd that the Cards have more "Quality" Starts. But you can clearly see the shortcomings of the Cards. Even though the Brewers are playing way over their heads right now, things have got to change.

This is what it looks like when you average scoring 2 runs for 4-5 games and then erupt for 10 runs. There is no offensive consistency right now. Multiple bats never hit at the same time for a sustained run. Pitchers pitch one gem followed by 2 forgettable performances.CCard wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 07:16 am Brewers...4th in runs

Re: By the numbers
Here's the thing . . . going into June the Cards were top 10 in BA and runs scored. For over two months now the offense has been bottom ten. Put another way, CCard listed the rankings, which are mediocre, but we are falling offensively. The pitching stats have been steadily mediocre all season, which really shouldn't surprise anyone.
Re: By the numbers
Indeed what you say is true. I would even argue that the pitching isn't just mediocre but actually bad. As for the hitting? Well, they've certainly regressed. I would think that they might consider a new hitting coach and a new approach to hitting. They play half their games at Busch and Busch isn't a launching pad, yet they get to the plate and you see them swing as hard as they can on every (bleep) pitch. I miss Yadi singling through the right side with two strikes. It's about intelligence and refusing to adjust.BrummerStealsHome wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 08:19 am Here's the thing . . . going into June the Cards were top 10 in BA and runs scored. Brewers don't care about quality starts. Their SP are 24th in IP. They realize that it takes an entire pitching staff to win games.CCard wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 07:16 am Brewers...4th in runs

You want guys who don't give up runs, not guys who eat innings and consistently hand the ball to your bullpen down by 2 runs.

Re: By the numbers
His statement was reference to this- we were pretty good players, so after a game, some of us would mob the score keeper to get our game line. We were more interested in our performance than the team win or lose. He caught us there and made us leave the score keeper alone stating that- “ statistics are for losers.” Reference the individual nature of stats.HighHeet wrote: ↑14 Aug 2025 06:53 amGoodness, Bulldog. Re: By the numbers
It's true I guess, but won't that eventually burn up your bullpen? I mean, the Brewers are in a unique situation in that every thing they do is turning up roses. But that will eventually change. If you use 5 or 6 relievers every game, pretty soon there won't be enough arms to pitch a game. Right or not?cardstatman wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 22:56 pmBrewers don't care about quality starts.
