The fan base has left them, they have a starless team that produces little excitement, and an owner and POBO that are completely tone deaf to what is going on at the stadium. How they watch this and aren’t embarrassed to no end is beyond me.

The lineup they put out there today will be the weakest lineup fielded by any team in baseball today. Look at every lineup posted today and find one weaker than the one thrown out there today by the Cardinals.
I know we still think in terms of BDW Jr, but is this really the dawn of the era of BDW III insofar as the money goes?

I thought I'd read that during the end of season presser last year when Mozeliak was asked a question about spending/budget, he turned towards III for affirmation of his answer. And, it was III who handed out the now-infamous (words to the effect) "we'll just cut the budget if fans don't show up" comment during an early 2024 radio interview.

Could be. We obviously aren’t in the room when decisions are made. Whomever is calling the shots for this team, they really are struggling with making good ones. Cutting back on player development, slicing payroll substantially, alienating a rabid fanbase and running a team out there that is void of star players. Seems like every decision lately is worse than the previous one.

And next season will probably be another runway season they will probably bring back walker and Gorman back and they are more likely to suck just as bad as they have this season and last season than have some big break out season

the standings say .500 but IMO this is NOT a .500 team
Yep. Very close to a Rockies sweep too.

...Depends on how you define "weakest."...If ya go by W-L record so far this season, Cards are far from the weakest. They are smack-dab in the middle. There are 7 teams in both the NL and AL that have a below-.500 records, including the team that beat the Cards today. And you realize that half the teams playing today are gonna lose...maybe to a better team, and maybe to a "weaker" team... That's just baseball. The strongest team is not gonna win ALL their games, and the weakest one won't LOSE all their games... That's baseball...
