More Reggie Sanders & Mike Moustakas rather than Dave Winfield and Kyle Schwarber?
Basically, what if they were just guys who were complementary pieces on an excellent team rather than core foundational pieces deserving of bigger contracts? They would be guys who could be overvalued "stars" on bad baseball teams or 6/7 hitters on outstanding teams.
My point is that most prospects either do not make it or they turn into complementary pieces. Very rarely do they become foundational superstars. Thus, Bloom should be proactive in finding 2 offensive players and at least 1 top-of-the-rotation starter.
I know, easier said than done. Especially since MO brought in the wrong guys on large contracts over the past few years.
What if Walker & Gorman were...

But here's the thing: If Gorman and Walker were 'only' Sanders and Moustakas, they would be a great help to the 2025 Cardinals. How much better would their record be? 3 to 6 more wins?Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 14:05 pm More Reggie Sanders & Mike Moustakas rather than Dave Winfield and Kyle Schwarber?

I would love to see both as consistent contributors. I don't think we realize by just being that how much of a difference it would make.

I expect more out of mid-First round picks
Right now Sanders and Moose would be a high ceiling for them

I'd take either Sanders season with the Cardinals..give those to Walker and this team would likely be ahead of the Mets right now.

The problem is we were told they were stars and they are nothing more than role players. Where are the stars? Thats what fans pay to watch.
