The more experience he gets, the better he performs.
Like you said, he hasn't been given a great roster.
Hard to judge a man with this level of talent.
The fact that they are above .500 is a testament to Marmol's abilities.
I don't see them making a change.
Generally, they like continuity.

A baseball guy once said ‘there are 3 criteria for evaluating a manager… 1 how he does in-game strategy ie. Bullpen, pinch hittters, lineups, positioning
2- how he motivates his players to perform at their best
3/ how he disciplines his players regarding rules infractions ie. Lateness, other team rule violations

Fans are only privy to No. 1 of those 3 areas
They have no clue on how he performs at no.2 and No. 3


The head guy Bloom now is in the clubhouse at times and can observe the total picture. So retaining a manager or releasing him goes far beyond what fans only see . A very incomplete picture.

I don’t know the answer to this, but how often does the manager survive a FO regime change? I’d imagine not very.
If Bloom doesn’t find someone else, then there will be immediate “more of the same” backlash.
I personally don’t know that Marmol is the problem. It’s more so the talent on the field. I guess the only way to know is to make a change and see if walker, Gorman, etc find their ceiling.

I'm pretty indifferent on Oli's future right now. He can only do so much with what he's been given. I'll trust that Bloom has a handle on how the players respond to him and act accordingly. The problems we have right now are way bigger than whoever is the manager.

There are extenuating circumstances such as fans not coming to the ballpark in large numbers. Whether you blame him or not they need to show the fan base huge wholesale changes to this organization if they want to wash the bad taste out of their mouths.

The only complaint I have against him lately is his insistence that Burleson is "an everyday player" when he not only has a .665 OPS against LHP, but also a .686 OPS overall in the 2nd half.

His Burly adulation is nothing new of course, it's just the last really obvious bad habit. Recalls the "I just can't quit you" scene from Brokeback Mountain.

I agree. But the OP's premise may be correct. I would have fired him after one season.... Will be interesting to see what sort of autonomy Bloom has, and whether HE wants to retain Oli.

He’s not likely to manage 2026 on the last year of his contract, so he’ll either get fired or extended.

My guess is fired, but I’d be interested to see what he could do with a competent major-league roster.

You can argue about what he has to work with, but I just agree with how uses what he does have. He has used Pozo to good effect as a pinch hitter, but I feel he should catch more. The team doesn’t really have a true lead off hitter or clean up hitter, so he has to put someone there, but in a season where we were suppose to see what we have with certain players, he sure sits them a lot in preference to guys we already know.
Who knows, though, he might be just doing what Mo tells him to do!

Wow-that's like rewarding someone who fail to win or consistently lose
Would Oily be a manger for any other MLB team (not Fla-or Pitt)?
Might need a MLB person as manager, numbers and stats are great, not everything

Oli has too much stink on him.

From being "Mo's guy".......to screwing up Game 1 of the Phillies series......to the 91 lose season.....to his illogical lineups!

Unless BDWJr wants to continue w/the same malaise that's fallen over the franchise, he'll let C. Bloom fire Oli and replace him w/his manager.

Oli belongs at AA/AAA where his strength lies in developing young minor league players.
