I looked at videos of Dave Winfield, same height as Walker. Winfield's stance was quite crouched down. same for Pujols and Rosen, both big guys. all of them top hitters.
Walker just seems to stand up too straight, a tiny bit less recently, but still nothing like those other hitters. seems like he could get to the outside pitch better with a less upright stance. maybe get under the pitch more easily. maybe drive forward into the ball better.
thoughts?

Look at Pujols. He held the bat high just like Walker but he was bent at the knees. It's too difficult for a 6'6" guy to get low or outside pitches standing straight up like he does.boulanger wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 19:44 pm question for whoever has an idea about batting stances. And... There's a reason that most of the best hitters do NOT have a wide open stance.

Winfield has a normal stance but his load was like a golf swing crouch. I don't see anyone else doing thatboulanger wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 19:48 pmRolenscoutyjones2 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 19:46 pmWho's Rosen?boulanger wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 19:44 pm question for whoever has an idea about batting stances. Is there anyone, and I mean ANYONE, who likes these in-the-field-during-game interviews?
I literally can't watch them. I turn the game off, although I do that a lot these days regardless. lol

I hate em but that's what ESPN does. And the pitch predictor and that garbage on the right side of the screen. I'd rather watch Bradley call the game!!blackinkbiz wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 19:51 pm Is there anyone, and I mean ANYONE, who likes these in-the-field-during-game interviews?
