Eli has little choice for QB

Post by hdhntr148 »

You have a guy with bigtime actual game experience who can do it all and has won an actual rivalry game in a hostile road environment at Camp Randle stadium with almost 80K screaming fans there. Beau was very solid and in looking at his HS Tape? He can do it all including a great touch on go routes and long out routes which require great touch. Makes really good decisions when he does run and can really throw accurately on the move and keep the chains moving.

Sam Horn has a very strong arm and excellent athlete but has been dinged up a lot and no actual game experience where it mattered what he did. Folks wonder why Eli is dragging this out but he had to create the illusion there was a QB battle because why not? keeps a backup around who is very talented just in case as SEC is a tough physical conference.

If it's your job who would you trust it with?

BTW when you look at Penn state message boards there has been a big contingent who last year said Beau was the better choice over Allar because he was tougher and made better decisions and were majorly Pizzed when Allar didn't leave and Beau did. I think that says a lot. Beau didn't throw down field much because that wasn't his role. He did exactly what his coaches wanted him to do. Now he will have a chance to show his real stuff and IMO will be better than Brady was who often made poor decisions on when or where to run and didn't find his secondary receivers that well but still was a solid QB.

I think we have a very deep, talented QB room. Albeit inexperienced. We have a chance to be pretty special at the QB position for years to come.

Pribula seems to be the likely choice, but don’t count out Horn. People forget just how highly touted he was out of HS. He’s very talented. He’s just dealt with so many injuries.

And Zollers is a stud.

Easily the best collection of QB talent since Drinkwitz has been here.

Pribula may be the guy in the opener but it wouldn't surprise if all three candidates see considerable playing time.

Of course that may not be such a good thing if there isn't a head and shoulders leader.

Because of how I believe the offense will be designed Pribula will be the choice.

One thing about Horn in high school, he was throwing to Travis Hunter. As long as you can chuck the ball up in the air he’s gonna make any HS QB look good. So I really have no idea how good he really was then or is now.

I think it's a forgone conclusion that Horn, after signing with the Dodgers , will not be the starter.

Playing QB at this level is a full time gig.

Pribula will be the starter baring injury. I'd bet real money on it.

His contract with the Dodgers needn't interfere with his college football endeavor. He just can't play baseball for Mizzou, as he's a pro.

I might be wrong. It's happened in the past once or twice even.

Russell Wilson probably the most famous and I think Elway also did this

Signing with the Yankees didn't stunt Drew Henson's career as the Michigan quarterback.

It stunted the hell out of his senior season when he gave it up for MLB money.

Worth noting that Kyler Murray gave up baseball to focus on football going into his draft year. Russell Wilson was mentioned too and while he did play minor league baseball in the summers of 2010 and 2011 it was mentioned as a reason for why he left NC State, the coach wanted his focus on football. Then he went to Wisconsin and he too gave up baseball once drafted by the Seahawks.

Those two, Henson, and Elway were also position players on the diamond. They all locked up the QB job for their respective colleges much earlier than Horn too.

It's Dodger fans/management that should be upset, not Missouri fans.

Horn's as good as he is no matter baseball...he's either good enough to start or not.

This I agree with. Mizzou is currently underrated in the preseason poll....

after success of last two years and incredible TP class he brought in the poor rankings are reflection of how awful FB writers truly are. they go with the usual suspects and big brands no matter what. Great news is? Their opinions matter not a whit about actual on field play. really plays into STP attitude Eli fosters so great motivator for Team.

Both QB's are really good and Beau especially will be so much tougher than Brady ever was who was a gamer and gave his all but was dinged up a lot.

We shall see who wins out but both are outstanding. last real competition was Robinson and Cook where Robinson wasn't SEC worthy anyway and switched to Safety after Brady won out. THIS is much closer with two QB's with much more talent IMO than Cook.

And in another thread you ballyhooed their perception and declared it legitimate.
