Airfare, rental cars, hotels, meals, and expenses are all provided.
Standard stuff in most industries.
Why should it be any different for players and employees of a sports team?
Re: Does anyone know how much the cardinal players get for meal money?
yeah, come on...people making millions of dollars need meal money?...the lowest paid players in baseball make more than 10 times the average wage...this made sense back when players had to work in the off season but today it is ridiculousRojo Johnson wrote: ↑08 Aug 2025 21:37 pmNo. Not at all. Why wouldn’t they get meal money? Their families back home are eating too, with groceries their husbands/fathers have paid for.

As for MLB umpires , they each receive $340 per diem . Those dollars cover their hotelm food expenses and other incidentals.
Their local transportation to the ballpark from hotel is also covered.
MLB umpires also stay in 4 & 5 star hotels usually in downtown areas of major cities.
When umpires fly from city to city for each series, they sit in 1st class for seats . Umpires do their own bookings and flights but MLB gives them recommendations on hotels and airlines. (Sure that MLB gets a fine corporate rate at the ritzy hotels they stay at )
Umpires typically fly separate from teams to maintain impartiality.
Umpires get 4 paid weeks of vacation each season . Also 401K plan
Starting umpires earn $150,000 ranger per year . Crew chiefs , most experienced ones make between $350,000 to $450,000 per year.
Bonuses are paid if they earn postseason playoff games (based on their ratings )
If you ump in the first round of playoffs, you make between $5,000 to $10,000 per round. IF they work the League Championship Series and World Series, their total playoff bonuses can reach the $20,000 to $30,000 range.

Did somebody look at pozo and burly and get concerned they weren’t eating?
Re: Does anyone know how much the cardinal players get for meal money?
$117.50 in Milwaukee, Cincy or KC would get you fed pretty well. Not so much in NYC or Frisco. Of course if you are making millions digging into your pocket for a few extra bucks isn't the hardship it would be for the rest of us.

Ricky Henderson said on the first day they were handed an envelope with all their meal money for the trip...he never opened his...when his kids got good grades he told them to go into his office and pick up an envelope...some serious cash if it was from a 10 day road trip..
