RIP Terry Reid

Post by 12xu »

Singer/Guitarist Terry Reid has passed away at the age of 75. Reid had a short time in the spotlight in the late sixties and early seventies. Reid had a big, powerful voice somewhat like Steve Marriott of Small Faces and Humble Pie fame. At one time Jimmy Page wanted him to be the lead singer in the new band he was assembling - Led Zeppelin, but Reid turned him down and recommended Robert Plant. Reid also turned down the invitation to join Deep Purple early in their career. He wanted to perform his own compositions and play guitar in his own group.

Some of his best songs were on his self titled LP - released in 1969.

Rob Zombie used a few of Terry's songs in his movies 'The Devil's Rejects' and '3 From Hell'. 'To Be Treated Rite' is definitely a great song.
