Just replacing Fedde to start this year with a really good SP and the Cards might be in the 10 games over .500 neighborhood. Maybe better, IDK.
Point attempted, the Cards aren't that far away.

The rub is: with the tradition and $$$$ they possess, they should be a better MLB organization.![]()
No. Surly I jest.
Re: AAA team just outhit and out scored the Dodgers
Sorry, no truth to it.
Contreras
Gray
Donovan
Arenado
Winn
Herrera
Liberatore
Romero
Are they AAA players?

Record is now 3-1 vs LA, so even if they lose these next two, they'll still have a .500 record head to head vs the World Champions. Is it meaningful? Not really, what matters more is the Cardinals' record vs bad teams like Colorado(1-2), Miami(1-2), Atlanta(2-4),Pittsburgh(4-5), and the Angels(1-2).
Not saying they won’t tinker with adding position players but they are still sorting through the cost controlled guys and JJ & Crooks/Bernal are looming for 2026.
It’s the rotation that is the area of needed focus.
You have Gray and for now Pallante can hold down the back end.
McGreevy gets his shot.
Libby to me is the Wild Card. He shows potential.
Can he be a #2/#3???? Or another back end guy??
They do have some intriguing youngsters in Mathews and Doyle to name a few.
Bummer about Roby who was making a move.
I think Hence winds up in the BP??

Yes Libby made some progress this year but needs to continue to improve. His away games were not up to the standard of home games and we really need for him to take the next step.Cusecards wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 20:49 pmAgreehugeCardfan wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 12:18 pmWhat matters is that we get busy and start putting a rotation together that the Cardinals can win with. I think Mathews needs some shoulder work to get back to his first year velocity. If he can do that, he could become a #2. Hopefully Doyle takes to pitching at an elite level quickly. Agree about Hence. He could be a valuable late inning guy.
McGreevy should fit into a #3 in a year or two.
I'd love to see a FA sortie for a top notch pitcher though wonder if that's just asking too much. Hit a HR and maybe we don't use Gray's '27 option.
Not holding my breathe for Roby but he would be a heckuva nice surprise.
