Cinematic greatness!

Post by todd-parker »

Every decade, or so, a film comes along that reaffirms your belief in human achievement, that brings meaning to a confusing world, and that enriches your spirit with wonder and amazement. A film that will stand the test of time and be talked about amongst the greats like The Godfather, Lawrence of Arabia, and Citizen Kane.

'War of The Worlds', the new Amazon Prime release starring Ice Cube, is not that film.

Critics crush remake:

Should never have been released:

Hilarious in all the wrong ways:

Curiosity got the better of me, so I watched this. Yes, it is bad. Hilariously bad. We're looking at a clean sweep at the next Razzie Awards. It would make a great double-feature with 'The Room'.

“Take your intergalactic (bleep) back home!”

Thanks, Jeff Bezos.

Dan Murrell's take is pretty funny. And he's not exactly a tough critic....

I watched about 10 minutes of it last night before Chuck Barris appeared with a giant gong.

Wow, this sounds sort of, is Jeff-Bezos-Amazon-prime-WOKE a thing ??

Of course, this version of War of the Worlds isn’t intended to be an alien invasion story, at least not entirely. It’s much more of a cautionary tale about government overreach and the endless battle between security and privacy, but the themes are completely garbled in a movie with a climax that is unambiguously an advert for Amazon Prime Air. It’s no surprise this was dumped without ceremony on Amazon’s streaming service; what is surprising is the blatancy with which it reveals that with or without an alien invasion, the entire human race may well be doomed.

(I write this as amazon prime spawned boxes sit on my office floor. )

I’ll watch anything called War of the Worlds.

I started watching it several days ago and had to stop because of a time constraint. I tried stating it up again and it wouldn’t load and I got an error.
