I have repeatedly mentioned this. If there’s a spot on this team for him, it’s at 1B. If we keep Donovan our infield going forward should be
1B Gorman
2B Wetherholt
SS Winn
3B Donovan
If Bloom decides to move Donovan for a good return fine but if he’s here make him the 3B of the future. Gorman should be looked at as a 1B and should be given a hard look there. 2B….3B aren’t his best options.
Why him over Willson at 1B? He'd be a defensive downgrade and DH allows him to be platooned vs. lefties.
It’s a good idea. I’m just saying that if Gorman has a position on this team, I believe 1B is the only place for him. He’s not a 2B or a 3B. Contreras has a 5 year deal that runs through 2027. That last year may well be a year lost to a lockout. Willson may be looking at his last year as a Cardinal in 2026.
I’m not sure that Gorman has a future here but if he does splitting DH duties with Herrera seems like a small task. For both Gorman and Herrera.

I agree with him at DH alternating with someone -- but the team has a surplus of DH-types = Gorman, Walker, Herrera, and Burly (did I miss anyone?). Someone has to go, and they have to find an all-around OF (easy to say).

The biggest disappointment the Cardinals have IMO is the lack of advancement by Walker and Gorman. Both are still young but we just haven’t seen either grow like we hoped and frankly need. These two were the bats of the future. Without either we will be set back by years. A big bat who was supposed to play the infield and a RH hitting outfielder.
Moving on from them and kind of starting over would be a huge setback.

No doubt. I was very excited about both, but that's what you sometimes get with the 20th or so pick. I didn't mind them going for the high-ceiling power guys, as we haven't developed one in a long time. But sometimes you win...

have to give him playing time everyday the rest of season to see what he is.
That would be fair to Gorman, Bloom and Marmol, assuming Marmol is the manager in 2026. The Cardinals have to determine if Gorman is a part of their rebuild, or not.

Yes, just like the tragic death of RF Oscar Taveras . The Cardinals have never replaced a talent close to him since he passed.

I certainly agree with this. Can you imagine where Cards would be if Jordan were hitting, say, .275-.285 with 12-15 homers? And if Gorman were hitting .250-.260 with 25-35 homers. And they may in coming years. The problem is the word “may.” As fans, we’d like to see some serious development, some decent steps forward. Next trading deadline has got to be the deadline for me. Both need to advance toward those lofty goals or they need to find a new home.
