Cincinnati hosts Atlanta tonight at Bristol Motor Speedway. Over 85,000 tickets sold, which is an MLB record. Generally MLB's marketing is terrible but I like how they are using unconventional venues to draw new fans.

Re: Tonight's MLB Attendance Record
Good move to have two teams within a few hours north and south of Bristol.
First MLB game ever played in state of Tennessee.

Re: Tonight's MLB Attendance Record
Wow, Braves are 17 games under .500 and can still draw 85k
Re: Tonight's MLB Attendance Record
Unsure how many will be ‘new fans’ as Bristol is a 5 hour drive for each fan base. Little over 300 miles.Mort Gage wrote: ↑02 Aug 2025 10:00 am https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb- ... r-stadium/

Similar to Cub fans Chicago driving to Busch in St. Louis.

They will draw a lot of NASCAR fans, and I'm sure others will watch at home. If they entertain they could might create new baseball fans. If not I respect their efforts.ramfandan wrote: ↑02 Aug 2025 10:12 amUnsure how many will be ‘new fans’ as Bristol is a 5 hour drive for each fan base. Yes on NASCAR fans to see a baseball field inside the oval. Uniqueness is definitely a drawing card.Mort Gage wrote: ↑02 Aug 2025 10:17 amThey will draw a lot of NASCAR fans, and I'm sure others will watch at home. Imagine a field built on rim of Grand Canyon. HR balls to LF flying over a wall and soaring thousands of feet down.
Great for TV. I know I would watch.

Throw in a motorcycle jump by one of Evel Knievel's descendants and I'm in.ramfandan wrote: ↑02 Aug 2025 10:32 amYes on NASCAR fans to see a baseball field inside the oval. They drew almost 157k for that game. Wow. I hope most the fans tonight have rides home.
Re: Tonight's MLB Attendance Record
MLB shot too low. Why not hold the game at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which holds 250,000 fans in seats?

Re: Tonight's MLB Attendance Record
Yes….that is the number Bristol reported….Mort Gage wrote: ↑02 Aug 2025 10:43 amhttps://apnews.com/ap-top-25-college-fo ... 954369c4c1

The Guinness book of records has it at 130
The disparity is how non ticketed people are counted…..players, coaches, bands….security, etc..
