It just seems like people simply love to hate and look for any opportunity and excuse to express that hate.
The posts on Arenado are cruel; it is like people have no respect or honor.
Always remember that baseball players have families that read the posts and are affected. The player can take it but think about the children. Think, people, before you post.

I know this will be blown off my many, some will think it funny and post hateful posts in this very thread. The first response to a post is always some wise-[ash] remark.

Life is short and meant to be enjoyed and productive.

One day you will regret remarks that tear people down rather than build them up.

The older generation knows grew up believing that if you don't have something good to say, don't say anything at all.

Better that people think you are a nice person than prove you are not.

Whatever, I'm sure this is just going to be laughed off by most of you.

Then don’t become a public MLB player, sign a 35mil/yr contract….which is paid by the consumer of this entertainment, and then degrade to unwatchable and publicly announce that even though you are the highest paid and most profile entertainer on this team……you’re not a leader and look elsewhere for that as the team you should be performing at a high level loses more than it wins…..
See how that works Opti……if ole NA was sitting at home typing on a screen like us that would probably be the pinnacle of any public scrutiny….albeit anonymous….
At 35mil yr….it come with the territory….we all make our choices in life

True. Hate is as old as mankind. Make it stop with you. You never are sorry you were too kind.

Opti
Kindness and decency are individual traits, not traits of a particular generation.
This is very true. I'm reaching 70 and the only difference with me is I'm a bit more patient than I was in my younger years. And I understand the frustration with the team/Mgr/FO many have. I've had the same feelings in the '70's & 90's but things have always gotten better with time. When it does, it starts with good ownership and the rest follows the course.

How old ae you and how long have you been a Cardinal fan?
Not the OP but 79 and started following the Cards avidly in 1954. I had started following baseball in 1953 listening to Browns games on the radio and became a fan of Satchel Paige. My Dad took me to my first MLB game at Sportsman’s Park near the end of the 53 season to see Paige pitch.

I went to an Iowa Oaks minor league game in 1972 and saw Satchel Paige walking around near the concession stands. I told my wife and went up and shook his hand.

First Cards game was in the 50's in Sportsmans Park against the Dodgers. Frank Howard was in right field for the Dodgers. Stan Musial homered for the Cardinals. Been a Cards fan all my life. KMOX was the key.
Sounds about 1960. I have a few years on you, but great memories.
Sounds like you are right. I asked Grok on Twitter and Grok said: The most likely game is September 16, 1963, at Sportsman’s Park, where the St. Louis Cardinals faced the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Stan Musial hit his 475th and final home run off Johnny Podres. Frank Howard was likely in right field for the Dodgers, given his role that season.

Opti
Not this game. Although Frank Howard was the Dodgers primary right fielder in 1963, he didn't play in the September 16 game. Wally Moon was in right field for Los Angeles that night. Musial did hit his 475th and final HR in this game. If the game occurred in 1963, it would have been the game on May 8th. However, I thought you said earlier that your first game was in the 1950s?

Many of us called out the owners and management for hurting the franchise- no way to put a positive spin on that. They did not just make mistakes- they openly insulted the fan base. Now they are Finding Out.
Good post Rivets!

I just remembered Howard in right and Musial with a HR and in Sportsmans Park. I thought it had to be the 50's but Red said probably in the early 60's, which led me to ask Grok. I especially remember Howard's knees shaking while fielding a ground ball single to right. 1963 sounds right and very well could be in May.

My first game was August 17, 1963 at the old yard at Grand & Dodier. I was only 8 years old when my Dad took me to the game vs the Giants - Mays, McCovey, Cepeda, Marichal. Bill White hit a 2 out 2 run HR in the 9th to tie the score at 7. Cardinals won the game 8-7 in the 10th inning with a walk off PH single by Stan the Man!

Every generation has its saints and its scoundrels. Virtue isn’t inherited with age. It’s earned through individual choices. We all make our choices.
