In June he hit .275 with a .730 OPS and came through with some big hits and plays then June 29th he injured his finger and admitted he changed his swing to compensate for it which lead to the shoulder injury and he’s nose dived ever since. It’s about time
My guess is that it took so long as the trade deadline was fast approaching and putting him on IL then would have definitely squashed any possible trade possibility. Teams rarely trade for guys on IL.
In this case, other teams were not fooled regarding his injuries(finger, shoulder impingement). They viewed him as damaged goods right now.
In fact, unknown if Dr. on trading club would have said he doesn’t pass their physical which is required for all trades.
If they failed him, trade nixed.
Playing injured and sucking made it even less likely that he was going to be traded.
Not playing and being on the IL wouldn't help either. NA is a competitor who has always
taken on a challenge. It's who he is, becoming MLB star, a possible HOF 3B.

He was on a 4 month tryout for other teams. NA is a gamer. He answers the bell as often as possible.
That's something, IMO without substance, Gorman and Nootbaar could learn from.

Also in opinion bases bias without proof NA isn't at his best when playing with pressure or distractions.
Both of those started this off season and increased as months passed and the trade deadline
kept getting closer.
Are you his agent? He's been declining for 3 years now.
If a well-paid veteran “isn’t at his best when playing with pressure or distractions” I don’t think I want him on my team.

I was as excited as anybody when Arenado came to the Cardinals.

But he isn’t or at least hasn’t been the player I expected.
To be fair to NA, I did say that my take was 100% opinion without proof.

The opinion came from his age 29 season being his worst in CO. with an OPS of .738
after he asked for a trade. A distraction to just playing ball. His 2023 age 32 season which
was still good decreased but still good OPS of .774. A season after the leaders of AP and YM left
he requested more leadership on the team. 2024 No significant player brought in
further regression. All can be aged related so bias opinion on my part. Just age 29 and age 32 seem
drastic in there drops. Add the sss of 35 PA in the post season with an OPS of .385.
It is a sss.

I can be incredibly wrong on that. What I don't feel wrong on is him being a great player
a competitor. I believe him when he says wants to win and play for a championship.
That distracts from just playing ball when attempting to be in a leadership role, that doesn't
make him bad it's just not who he is as a player, or changing teams and wanting to go
to a better situation.

Ok.

I still don’t want him on my team.

I think he wants to pad his counting stats much more than he wants to win a championship.

I certainly could be wrong; it wouldn’t be the first time!

But as with all posts here, that’s just my opinion.

I would love it if he were padding his counting stats that would actually help the team instead he’s not padding them because he sucks
