I struggled watching the most recent Jackie Robinson movie: 42.
When you look back at America, the generations were the worst when it came to respecting their fellow man. This generation seem to celebrate what they have in common instead of putting people in boxes because of their differences.

The posts on Arenado are cruel; it is like people have no respect or honor.
Always remember that baseball players have families that read the posts and are affected. The player can take it but think about the children. Think, people, before you post.
I know this will be blown off my many, some will think it funny and post hateful posts in this very thread. The first response to a post is always some wise-[ash] remark.

The older generation knows grew up believing that if you don't have something good to say, don't say anything at all.
Better that people think you are a nice person than prove you are not.
Whatever, I'm sure this is just going to be laughed off by most of you.

Re: As one of the older posters on CT
Arenado signed a contract worth $275 million to play a kid's game. He's a future HOF'er who threw a fit to the point the team that gave him that contract was willing to eat 10's of millions of dollars of it just to get him out of their organization. He came to STL because he wanted to "play for a winner." His first 2 regular seasons showed he could perform at a high level outside of Coors but he once again, as he has in the past, was unable to perform well both at the plate and in the field come playoffs.
He has since--at an eye-opening pace--digressed to a replacement-level player who vetoed a trade that could have had him playing for a new contender. He's either hidden or refused to miss playing time because of injuries when he knows his team wants at-bats for younger players who'll replace him when he's gone but rather than show leadership, he tried to play through those injuries and once again hurt his team over and over and over again.
He brings 0 leadership to the organization and has proven himself tremendously selfish through his actions. I have no idea what he's like in his personal life but if I ever met him I'd be nothing but polite, professional, and treat him with the respect he deserves for being a man who has achieved greatness in life.
But as a Cardinal, he's become nothing more than a selfish has-been who deserves every bit of professional criticism his performance--or lack thereof--deserves.

I’ve experienced hateful old people, hateful young people, and hateful people in-between. And kind, decent people in all age groups as well.

I've got a lot more respect for Paul Goldschmidt compared to Nolan Arenado. He was a real pro, during good times and bad.
Arenado is self-absorbed, had moped repeatedly in his body language and not a leader in any way. He had a chance to go to a winner and said no and frankly is holding up younger players from getting a chance.
This is on him.
And Mo and DeWitt

In fact, I encourage others to follow my example.
Agreeably disagree.
Inform and educate - but do no attack and denigrate.
And like me, be polite, kind, patient, and gracious to a fault.
Making the internet better.

Re: As one of the older posters on CT
Sounds like you are right. I asked Grok on Twitter and Grok said: The most likely game is September 16, 1963, at Sportsman’s Park, where the St. Louis Cardinals faced the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Stan Musial hit his 475th and final home run off Johnny Podres. Frank Howard was likely in right field for the Dodgers, given his role that season.OldRed wrote: ↑01 Aug 2025 19:13 pmSounds about 1960.
