It's like the Patriot way in football.
That crashed and burned too.

Kissell taught more than fundamentals. He also taught mind set and wanting to win and how to win.bccardsfan wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 08:26 amThe Cardinal Way is just about how to play fundamental baseball. They are still teaching fundamentals in the minors the last time I checked.....

And then they send them to St Louis even though zero talent and not much learning.bccardsfan wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 08:26 amThe Cardinal Way is just about how to play fundamental baseball. They are still teaching fundamentals in the minors the last time I checked.....

Perhaps he should have concentrated more on Moe and the Pencil Neck? Those two have forgotten who they work for.OldRed wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 08:29 amKissell taught more than fundamentals. Kissell's version of the "Cardinals Way" ended when Mozeliak fired Shildt. The full transition to analytics was made then.

Agreed. Shildt probably us not the best strategist and i am not sure about BP usage, but his teams do not tend to defeat themselves on fundamentals and he doesnt have the oli mindset on losing. But Shildt was a long termer the Cardinal''s system, so Im not surprised he has that old school outlook.JuanAgosto wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 09:04 am Kissell's version of the "Cardinals Way" ended when Mozeliak fired Shildt. Hopefully they can revive it because it is as dead as a door knob right now.

I agree about Shildt's handling of the bullpen. And I wasn't a huge fan. But he did clean up the fundamentals as cards manager. He was gifted Kissell's binder after George's death. Im sure he took it to SD when he left.RichieRichSTL wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 10:34 amAgreed. I wonder if Bloom will receive a copy of "Mo's Way"?
