This is part of my concern on the trade. You are trading for Aball players. If I have to wait, I want it closer to elite Aball players.Wattage wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 18:24 pmThe pitchers have okay numbers but i was hoping for something a little closer to majors than A+ ball. At that level you are so far away and could easily wash outStlcardsblues wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 18:22 pmThey were never getting a top 100 for a closer about to hit free agency. Return does seem mediocre, but time will tell.

I live near the Mets' AA team and had hoped for some AA or AAA talent if Helsley went to NY, similar to what the Giants got for Rogers.

Are those fellas any good?

Why not? 2 top 15. All they had to do was tell everyone he goes to the team offering the single highest rated prospect. Quality over quantity. What did the Cubs give up for Chapman?Stlcardsblues wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 18:22 pmThey were never getting a top 100 for a closer about to hit free agency. Return does seem mediocre, but time will tell.

That was nearly ten years ago. History has shown the last five years teams have not been dealing top prospects for rental relievers (pending free agents).Youboughtit wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 19:13 pmWhy not? 2 top 15. I still say my approach above gets a better player. No need for 3 give us the highest rated prospect you’re willing to deal. We will pick from those. No 3 player lottery picksStlcardsblues wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 19:22 pmThat was nearly ten years ago. Time will tell if this is a good trade. Mets did flip an A-ball prospect for Baez in 2021. That player turned out well. Not a fan of trading for Aball players, but the kid sounds like he has upside.

MLB updated the Cards top 30 prospect list already.JohnTudor1985 wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 18:21 pm Baez #6 prospect for Mets
Dohm #14
Baez was 92 coming into the year but just dropped out of top 100 in latest rankings.
They slid Baez in at #5 and Dohm in at #15
