What do the Cards do at C & CF in 2026?
I like Scott, but you cannot have him in the lineup when the 8th place hitter is also hitting near .200. I’m not sure where the Cards go for C in 2026 but something has to be done.

Scott is minimum salary for 2026...keep him, let those under him develop. We're not contending next season, no need to make a splash in FA for a CF
Catcher.... Crooks vs. RHP, Pages vs. LHP.......Pozo should be traded by the deadline, imo

Crooks and Bernal battle it out. Crooks should get some time in the bigs before the end of the season with Bernal moving up to AAA.
Scott is fine in CF, let him keep developing. Have Church on standby

Bernal may also be called up sometime next season.
He could be overall better than Crooks.

I'm happy with Scott. His last couple of months haven't been good with the bat.
But: He's vastly improved over 2024, playing exceptional defense in perhaps the most important defensive position, stealing bags with the best of them, and is only 24 years old.
We're deep at catcher in the Bigs + minors.

I'm more optimistic that Bernal can be here sometime next year. Pages is a stiff. He's a switch-hitter who, until this year, hit about the same from each side. This year, he's killing LHP (.975 OPS) and not RHP (.706).
I still hold out hope Joshua Baez can be the future CF. He has all the tools but this is his first year doing fairly well (great at times).

I want us to trade for Spencer Jones so I can one day see an OF of Baez, Jones, and Walker.ClassicO wrote: ↑29 Jul 2025 20:08 pmI'm more optimistic that Bernal can be here sometime next year. Argo needs some competition. Maybe Church or Antico push him ...maybe Baez

Unless your corner OF'ers can rake you can't afford Scott in CF.
Scott will likely be the starter in 2026 and hopefully will get better offensively..he'll get every chance to do so as other minor league candidates develop next season.
In 2027 (barring a work stoppage) and beyond the job is up for grabs.
Catching..I've heard so much about Crooks and Bernal let them play.

It’s how they’ve played for the last 5 years or more. Baseball talent is the least of their desires.ZouMiz2424 wrote: ↑29 Jul 2025 19:43 pm I like Scott, but you cannot have him in the lineup when the 8th place hitter is also hitting near .200. He should be a PH/defensive replacement. Sure he can be on the roster, but not 500 PAs worth.

You mean go to Church? He deserves a look in spring. Maybe an AFL stint this fall.
He won't replace Scott out of the gate. But a possible alternative in CF not named Siani or Hampson

I’m just happy to have a warm body in a birds on bat uni…….anyone requiring more than that is a selfish malcontent
