I’m one of those nerds who gets nostalgic about stuff from childhood that I thought was cool. I tend to love movies that bring to life cartoons, comic books, games, etc from my era.
So on that note, Voltron has long been at the top of my list. Is it true there is a Voltron movie coming out next year? PLEASE let it be good.

Re: Voltron
As someone whose favorite show as a kid was Voltron, I think it's probably one of those things that should be left alone. 40 years later you'll never be able to accurately capture that glorious 80s feel in either animation style or music (still maybe the best cartoon theme song of all time imo). And then what's really left after that?
Netflix released an updated version like 10 years ago, which narratively and animation-wise was actually pretty cool. But for whatever reason they opted not to use the original music, or even a variation, which was not only a ridiculous unforced error but is also a perfect example of how a really good reboot/movie will never happen.

Nice, good to see someone else thought that too. I thought it was outstanding back then. There was nothing cooler IMO than when Voltron would pull his hands (lions?) apart and form the sword.3dender wrote: ↑29 Jul 2025 11:47 am As someone whose favorite show as a kid was Voltron, I think it's probably one of those things that should be left alone. 40 years later you'll never be able to accurately capture that glorious 80s feel in either animation style or music (still maybe the best cartoon theme song of all time imo). I’m kind of weird about it because, while I actually love seeing cartoons, etc like this come to life, so to speak, on the big screen, I also get aggravated easily when proper homage isn’t displayed. Transformers was probably my #2 and when that came out in 2007, I thought overall they did a nice job. I didn’t care for some of the corny comedy they tried injecting, but for the most part it was really good. In this case, they could make an incredible movie with Voltron IF they do it right. So I am really excited about this idea, but I have the same concerns they’ll mess it up.

I remember that Voltron was one of those shows sanitized for American audiences where the monsters were "Robots"
