Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase has been placed on non-disciplinary administrative leave through Aug. 31 as part of Major League Baseball’s ongoing investigation into sports betting, per a league announcement. Clase’s teammate, Luis Ortiz, was the first (and thus far only other) player placed on leave under the ongoing investigation. Clase will continue to be paid while the league looks into any alleged wrongdoing. He will not count against the team’s 40-man roster while on leave. ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported that Clase was being placed on leave shortly prior to MLB’s formal announcement
.....This announcement brought to you by FanDuel, media partner of the ST Louis Cardinals and official sports betting partner of MLB......

Yeah....really.
Slightly OT: I wonder who's on the hook for his salary while he's on "non-disciplinary administrative leave"? The team, or MLB?

Moe is going to find a way to F this up, you guys know this
My fear too Jobu.
Our only hope is C. Bloom gets the final say.
He may e f f it up too, but we know Mo's going to (re: his worthless 2023 deadline moves).
Do we really want MO making any moves? BDW has probably given MO authority on salary dumps only.
Saw a report today that said Mo is running the show on all trades. That fellow GM’s were surprised by this since he is leaving and the players he acquired won’t play for him. New York Post report by one of their baseball writers. Can’t think of his name now but he often appears on mlb network as an insider.

Makes no sense, I'm sure fellow GM's are confused.
Nothing against Mo on this one but it's NOT going to be his team in two months so why would he be the one making moves for the roster that C. Bloom is going to be managing then?
Not like Bloom is some low level executive w/no experience, the man has a strong trading deadline track record I posted the other day.

Just absolutely stupid. If MO didn't have a giant ego, he'd just step back at this point.
Mo was on KMOX with Tom Ackerman yesterday, late morning. Ackermann asked him straight up if Chaim is involved in this year's deadline. He responded that, yes, Chaim is one of a number of voices at the table for this year's deadline. He also stated that if it was a larger trade that would have a greater impact on the club long term, Chaim would have a LOUDER voice at the table in that instance. Paraphrasing, but that was the gist.
