Walker's improvement
they are saying he/they figured something out at AA.
does that tell you/me that the coaching is better at Springfield than at Memphis?

Re: Walker's improvement
There’s hope that it’s better somewhere in the system. I hope.

Not sure who it referred to specifically, but I saw an article during his rehab that said there's someone at AA they wanted him to work with because of past experience.
Re: Walker's improvement
wouldn't it be interesting the next time a player needs to get his swing de-done, they send him to AA instead of AAA?
It would to me.
It would to me.
Re: Walker's improvement
he has been slightly better in a very SMALL sample ... let's wait to hype him againblackinkbiz wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 11:07 amNot sure who it referred to specifically, but I saw an article during his rehab that said there's someone at AA they wanted him to work with because of past experience.
Re: Walker's improvement
imo 10 games doesn't tell you much at all... I'll reserve judgment until the improve performance sticks for the rest of the season.

but I am not hyping him.
the thought just occurred to me that some coach at AA might know his stuff.

Re: Walker's improvement
He looked to be getting something going before his IL stint. So a little more sample if you count that too.82birds wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 11:19 amagree, SSSdugoutrex wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 11:09 amhe has been slightly better in a very SMALL sample ... let's wait to hype him againblackinkbiz wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 11:07 amNot sure who it referred to specifically, but I saw an article during his rehab that said there's someone at AA they wanted him to work with because of past experience.

I'll count his entire season ... .609 opsCorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 11:48 amHe looked to be getting something going before his IL stint. Re: Walker's improvement
Even with his better offensive numbers, his bWAR has slipped from -0.9 to -1.0 during this period of "improvement."
Not significant, but enough to remain stagnate.
I do have hope for him regardless, as he's only 23 and his high exit velo does hint at untapped power potential.

Re: Walker's improvement
I get it, his overall season sucks, but the topic was about his improvement, which is admittedly SSS.dugoutrex wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 11:54 amI'll count his entire season ... .609 opsCorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 11:48 amHe looked to be getting something going before his IL stint. At this point, nothing to lose to see if he can start sustaining some success. Trading him is a dump w/no return and would be hard to watch him start excelling somewhere else after suffering his growing pains.
I still think he was called up too soon and messed with too much by an incompetent hitting coach.

Over the last 95 MLB PA, Walker is hitting .292/.337/.427. Keep it up and finish even stronger and that will be a big positive.
