Are there now any possible takers for Arenado?
Finding one willing to take half his remaining salary would be good. Then Arenado would have to decide if he's up for moving. He seems to really like playing for the Cardinals while being paid handsomely at this stage of his career.

Nobody wants that washed up dude.
All the teams are aware of him cratering the last 2-3 years.

I see no point in trading him.
1. They aren't going to get any useful assets. Best case, maybe a junk prospect or two we won't hear from again.
2. Yes, they will get salary relief. They will not reinvest said relief into the team and they will use declining attendance as an excuse, stating they can't afford to keep payroll where it has been.
3. There is no big 3B prospect knocking at the door whom is currently being blocked by Arenado. Yes I understand Gorman or Donovan could be moved there, but with Wetherholt not quite ready yet, that really doesn't make much of a difference. I guess it has the benefit of opening a spot in the lineup that was lost when the starting C became strictly a DH. But a better alternative would be addressing that problem.
Whatever benefit is gained by moving him will not be felt by the fans.

If the Cards can't move him, he needs to bat 7 or 8 in the lineup. Not even 6, let alone 5.sdaltons wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 10:50 am I see no point in trading him.

Yes. See what happens with Suarez then we know more. Phillies, Seattle, Houston, Cubs would all have interest. Do we have to eat salary or throw in other prospects is question. And of course his NTC. But he HAS TO GO!!!!!!

Astros have no interest in reigniting talks with the St. Louis Cardinals for third baseman Nolan Arenado,
