That was the entire basis of the case guy. How the hell do you think he got off? He blew over the limit that night and his truck smashed into a building. He fled the scene in his vehicle and on foot. Witnesses placed him in the drivers seat and his lawyer fought hard to dismiss/discount them…which he did.

The NHL is not bound by the legal argument of innocent until proven guilty. They have a responsibility to protect their image. I would imagine they don’t want to be known as the gang rape league, even if it’s only alleged. So they’re own investigation. As they should!

Correct. The NHL has optics to consider. And also, the NHL is going to consider a ton more stuff than just the final verdict. All these guys signed NHL contracts that contain a morals clause. Did any of these guys violate that? Hide their conduct from their respective teams to get and keep those contracts? Lie to the NHL in their investigation? We as fans won’t know the answer to those questions but the NHL will. These guys don’t have a slam dunk to continue their NHL careers just because they were acquitted.

For several of the players, i feel like this is going to be posturing. Slowing down the return rather than removing their eligibility long term. Of the group of 5, i think McLeod is still potentially in a bad spot with being able to continue his career just based on how he looked and his text messages looked the night of. the PA is doing what they are obligated to do. A lot of posturing to make them look like they have the backs of the players, but unlikely to earnestly get the NHL to ends it's investigation.

Well my profession is a deflection on your part. It’s not relevant here. The League is a boys club. As for your analogy it’s inaccurate. Both guys would have to be pulled over. Then one through manipulation and money gets off. The other doesn’t have the same status or means.

The bottom line is that the NHL has permitted (recently) some people to be employed with terrible conduct that would get you terminated in other industries (or if you had less means).

These guys were found not guilty. The NHL needs to treat them accordingly and without prejudice.
