NO! That's exactly why he and so many other athletes are in this position. He had nothing left to prove after his first 2 seasons in STL. He had the contract, the GGs, and showed he could produce at a high level outside of Coors. They're not paying Nado 25+ million a year to be a "gamer" who plays through injuries, and yeah, he may only be a replacement-level player because of it, but hey, he's out there. That's the dumbest F'n sh*t in sports.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 07:35 amThat's true. Could be injuries more than age but the two are frequently related. Give him credit for playing through the injuries.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 21:26 pm He probably needs the IL the shoulder is obviously still bothering him I know people say players should play through injuries but this is what happens when they do a lot of times. Arenado also said he had to change his swing due to the finger problem which lead to the shoulder problem so yea playing through injuries can cause bigger problems
You can throw anyone out there and get a .230 avg with a .660 OPS. He's being paid to produce at a high level, not play through injuries. Falls as much on the training staff and FO as Nolan and it's just a chitshow all around so hopefully he's gone soon and never have to think about this dude again.

Hot take:
I said when the cards acquired him in 2021, to not expect the production in Colorado and not to be surprised if that ops starts dipping below .800. (Remember, that walk rate was never great.)
Except for a great 2021. His offense has been suspect.

Scott Rolen ops over 800 at ages 34 and 35 in 2009 and 2010. and his shoulder had been a mess in earlier years.

Do that and poison any further FA/trade picks for the foreseeable future. There are ways to deal with declining production from an established player, and there's acting callously and imperiously. Your suggestion is the latter. So, are you ready to pack your bags?

You're forgetting 2022. He was phenomenal. 7.9 WAR, AS, MVP-3, GG, SS, .293 avg with an .891 OPS and 30 HR 100+ RBI
Without question, the best player on the team--until the playoffs that is. Then 2023 was bad but it wasn't jaw-dropping, unlike the past 2 years.

It's odd that almost overnight he and Goldy both seemingly lost their power. I don't know that I've ever seen that before. Getting older doesn't mean falling off of a cliff.

If the screws were put to Arenado, he would accept any trade.
Bench that (donkey) the next 4 days and watch that NTC disappear.

2021, 2023-2025 were all ho hum compared to his Colorado years….
