Wouldn’t it be great to have some leadership that actually had a definitive plan instead of this constant “we need to see” [nonsense]……82birds wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 08:25 am I think this is a good read on the deadline:

This is most rudderless clueless group of do nothings in pro sports.
Because Miles and Gray don’t want to leave???? Why would any competitive self respecting athlete want to be in a place where they’re telling you they don’t want you???
Miles refuses to go somewhere else for 2MONTHS??

Tell him he’s benched, tell NA he’ll be benched…..

Re: July 31 fast approaching
No plan.... drifting and hoping a good deal is proposed by someone. The problem with NTCs is they hamstring you. I think this will be a slow process of draft and develop SPs. The AAA cupboard is pretty bare. You can always piece together a BP in some way, but quality SPs are hard to get. They are expensive in one way or another. We all know what the team needs, but how to get it is another story. That, and other GMs are not stupid, not most of them. If we see NA is declining, so do they. If we all really know Burley is a JAG, so do they. A guy like Tucker would go a long way towards fixing the OF next year, but he will be REALLY expensive. Plus guys tend to have career seasons in their walk year. So draft and develop is where most of the pieces are going to need to be found. I doubt the deadline will hold any great fixes. I hope to be wrong, but I doubt it....
They are investing in the development system, so that is good. They might want to invest in a new manager and pitching coach. We shall see on that one too... Not happening until the off season if it does.

Re: July 31 fast approaching
Statistically this team is just a couple stud pitchers and maybe a big bat away from being a playoff team.
That ownership / front office ignore that is pretty frustrating.
Probably too late anyway. Damage is done, the team has started fading like they wanted.

Been saying his for awhile….McGreevy and an outside SP with a real OF bat and you’re fighting for the CentralArmchair QB wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 08:54 am Statistically this team is just a couple stud pitchers and maybe a big bat away from being a playoff team.

Bench NA is he won’t leave, insert Donny at 3b….call up JJ
Perhaps Walker heats up…..you have a different team
No vision, no urgency, no nothing really from this FO to WIN

They have no recollection as to what urgency even feels like.Goldfan wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 09:02 amBeen saying his for awhile….McGreevy and an outside SP with a real OF bat and you’re fighting for the CentralArmchair QB wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 08:54 am Statistically this team is just a couple stud pitchers and maybe a big bat away from being a playoff team.

Is there this rule teams can’t trade till deadline. How much value does. Player gain or lose in a day or game. Seems deals could be made now.

Doggie, I think you have sellers sitting around fielding the best offers they can get and waiting as long as they can to see if a better one comes in. Of course there is always the chance your suitor moves in a different direction while you wait for a better offer. Gotta know when to hold 'em, but you also have to play the cards sometime. That is pretty much why things don't happen until the last day. Like free agent signings, often one of them breaks the dam and they some deals happen in succession.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 09:14 am Is there this rule teams can’t trade till deadline. Should be drawing a salary at that detail. There are 2 POBO’s there with a young inspired support staff, do you think they could figure that out?scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 09:15 amSo write the script you want them to act on...pencil it out for us...Goldfan wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 09:02 amBeen saying his for awhile….McGreevy and an outside SP with a real OF bat and you’re fighting for the CentralArmchair QB wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 08:54 am Statistically this team is just a couple stud pitchers and maybe a big bat away from being a playoff team.

If you're only going to (buzz) without stepping up and offering what you'd do, then, your post is worthless whiny (bleep).Goldfan wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 09:18 amShould be drawing a salary at that detail. You have no pitcher you'd identify and what you'd be willing to offer to get him? Or hitter?
Pathetic
Re: July 31 fast approaching
I don't think those players exist now at the deadline. As for next year, sign Merrill Kelly, win a bidding war for Valdez, and trade for Sean Murphy (Atl needs outfielders and that frees up money). Have to involve a third team like the White Sox. They have no top catching prospect. We do. Those players with JJ next year could be very good. If Walker figures it out, they would be very good in my opinion.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 09:25 amIf you're only going to (A female canine animal, especially a dog) without stepping up and offering what you'd do, then, your post is worthless whiny (bleep).Goldfan wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 09:18 amShould be drawing a salary at that detail. I don't get why the Cards want to trade to get a catcher? Why not trade to get Buxton? I know a few weeks ago the Twinkies said he's not available but I think he could be pried awayBad14 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 09:57 amI don't think those players exist now at the deadline. Re: July 31 fast approaching
Buxton said he wouldn't waive NTC. The Cardinals don't have a MLB-ready catcher. Murphy solves that and the RH power bat against lefties problem. Only 3 years left on his contract. They're going to need a backup so the first in line can show his skills next year.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 10:03 amI don't get why the Cards want to trade to get a catcher?
