You have to give to get
Remember that over the next few weeks and you'll appear more logical.
If you want return them Hels and Donny are your most attractive pieces.
Donny is a great piece to have, but he is not a player who’ll be a pillar piece on a contending team. He is a great complimentary piece on a contending team.

Trade Helsley. Let Bloom decide when the time to trade Donovan is. Why rush to let Mo mess it up.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 14:01 pm Remember that over the next few weeks and you'll appear more logical.

I agree. Trading for 26, and 26 is Blooms team.

On Donovan, yes. On Helsley (or any other expiring deal), not so much.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 14:17 pmI'd suspect these are all Bloom’s decisions moving forwardStlcardsblues wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 14:05 pmTrade Helsley. Re: You have to give to get
Burleson also currently has more value than ever -- you have to listen if someone really wants him. No one on this roster moves the needle towards a world series contender.
Re: You have to give to get
Could the Cardinals, possibly, get a fairly young, cost controlled #2 starting pitcher for Burleson? If the Cardinals would make that trade trade for Burleson at the trade deadline, who would be a productive replacement for him in the lineup? Are Gorman and Walker ready to be productive hitters at #3 or #4 in the lineup?

Another Pallante maybe.
Re: You have to give to get
they know what burleson is --- both gorman and walker have potential to be much better hitters, it would give them more opportunity to play them for the rest of this 'reset' season.Shady wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 15:27 pmCould the Cardinals, possibly, get a fairly young, cost controlled #2 starting pitcher for Burleson? No, No, No, they tell me this is MO’s team to screw up until he walks out of his office…..RamFan08NY wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 14:48 pmBasil Shabazz wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 14:17 pmI'd suspect these are all Bloom’s decisions moving forwardStlcardsblues wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 14:05 pmTrade Helsley. I have a really hard time trying to decide which is more screwed up
1. That Mo is really in charge until he walks out the door
Or
2. That people think Mo is in charge until he walks out the door…..and this seems perfectly normal
Re: You have to give to get
What scares me is if Mo is totally gone after season--as much as he and DeWitt are connected, he can still have his ear, and Mo's boy Hirsch is still aroundGoldfan wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 15:36 pmNo, No, No, they tell me this is MO’s team to screw up until he walks out of his office…..RamFan08NY wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 14:48 pmBasil Shabazz wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 14:17 pmI'd suspect these are all Bloom’s decisions moving forwardStlcardsblues wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 14:05 pmTrade Helsley. Yup, there's absolutely no way Mo would be making the decisions on trades happening when he has one foot, and the big toe on the other, already out the door.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 14:17 pmI'd suspect these are all Bloom’s decisions moving forwardStlcardsblues wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 14:05 pmTrade Helsley. Re: You have to give to get
Think you were referring to Mo's boy Hirsch .. Michael Girsch Girsch was stripped of his previous GM title to VP of Special Projects Nobody seems to know what special projects he worked on .. Marketing ? PR ? never heard As for the baseball side, Bloom has already put in place his No. 2 man with Rob Cerfolio .. Asst. GM in charge of player development Don't know if Girsch remains in his current role or whether he will be out the door after Bloom takes over. I am not concerned about Mo having any player input to DeWitts..govman wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 23:53 pmWhat scares me is if Mo is totally gone after season--as much as he and DeWitt are connected, he can still have his ear, and Mo's boy Hirsch is still aroundGoldfan wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 15:36 pmNo, No, No, they tell me this is MO’s team to screw up until he walks out of his office…..RamFan08NY wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 14:48 pmBasil Shabazz wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 14:17 pmI'd suspect these are all Bloom’s decisions moving forwardStlcardsblues wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 14:05 pmTrade Helsley. Re: You have to give to get
The return on Helsley has ramifications for next year and beyond. I highly doubt Mo is consulting him on Donovan, Nootbaar, etc and leaving him in the dark on expiring contracts. That wouldn’t make a lot of sense. An Old Friend wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 14:49 pmOn Donovan, yes. Good post, RFD. That's why I still believe Mo will do little by the trade deadline. He already stated as much last month.ramfandan wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 00:33 amThink you were referring to Mo's boy Hirsch .. Like it or not, the Cardinals don’t like to pull the rug out from under employees. They will give them a different position (often lesser, but with the same pay), and give them time to look for another job.ramfandan wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 00:33 amThink you were referring to Mo's boy Hirsch ..
