Sorry if this has been covered, but I haven’t seen it here, but Katie Woo mentioned that the Cardinals will “entertain offers” for Gray and Arenado and that they might be motivated to waive their NTC for the right team. Now, Arenado, I don’t expect anything for. But Gray might be able to get a pretty good return. I don’t know of many good starters on the market, and Gray is a pretty (bleep) good one, even with his recent struggles.
It might be a long shot, but teams always need pitching. It would be nice if the team could pull off a surprise like that.
St. Louis will entertain offers on Nolan Arenado and Sonny Gray. Both players have full no-trade clauses but could be motivated to waive them for the right fit. Mozeliak has started to gauge the interest of a handful of contending teams, though the talks are described as preliminary. The odds of either player being traded before the deadline remain slim, but the Cardinals are financially motivated to move their contracts.

Any old dog that has at least one competitive bone left in their body should want to try to play for the WS……Now why these 2 can’t seem to lead this team and convince this ownership to add more pieces to accomplish that is another question.

It was my understanding that we are in the wild card race…why trade our best SP?
the cards are going nowhere this year...gray who has a 4.33 ERA this year is due 35 mill next year...he could help a contender and if somebody made a compelling offer let him go

We would get nothing of return for Arenado and Gray. They would be salary dumps, leaving us with 3 holes in our SP rotation and one at 3B.
Correct. No one is giving up anything prospect-wise while taking in that much salary.

The only "compelling" offer would be "we'll pay some of the contract to take him".
The Cardinals are ONLY looking to offload the salary, they're not going to pay for prospects in return.
