Who would trade Walker?
This would seem to be the most intriguing question on the entire ML roster. Do you give up on the POTENTIAL now?
Still very young. Giant of a man who has gotten noticeably better in OF

Only if offered a compelling package, which I doubt anyone team would offer. Wouldn’t dump him for a lottery ticket like many others seem to want to do.

Not till he plays out this season. Hopefully he proves himself by the end of the season.

I guess the question is….do they still think Walker is a lotto ticket?CorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 15:34 pmOnly if offered a compelling package, which I doubt anyone team would offer. Wouldn’t dump him for a lottery ticket like many others seem to want to do.
I’m leaning to trade him

Has he proved himself after 65% of season?MIDMOBIRDTWO wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 15:37 pm Not till he plays out this season. Hopefully he proves himself by the end of the season.

Showing steady improvement. Looks about as good as most of the lineup lately.Goldfan wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 15:38 pmHas he proved himself after 65% of season?MIDMOBIRDTWO wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 15:37 pm Not till he plays out this season. Hopefully he proves himself by the end of the season.

Re: Who would trade Walker?
I wouldn't trade him simply because his value is likely lower than ever. He's shown some flashes of putting it together this season and I really like the new stance. Of course, he's still putting up 0 fers like last night too often.
But he and Wetherholt are essentially the same age. That shows you just how young he was when brought up--which was definitely too soon.
Re: Who would trade Walker?
There are only 2 current Cardinals I would not trade.
Winn and Walker. Especially if we're looking at 2027 to maybe be true contenders.
That's why Donovan is not on my no-trade list. He's a free agent in 2 years unless the Cardinals can extend him. Doubtful with payroll reduction mode probably coming. Also, Wetherholt could take over at 2B. Donny's bat doesn't really play in LF.

Re: Who would trade Walker?
I’d roll Donny to 3b. Everyone has Gorman penciled in there. I don’t think his glove plays there and his bat still hasn’t shown enough consistencyicon wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 15:43 pm There are only 2 current Cardinals I would not trade.

looks much better lately
Re: Who would trade Walker?
Walker's fundamentals are still poor. He still hits a lot of ground balls, most of which are outs, and the ones that find holes make up almost all of his hits. He has no power to the opposite field because he still pulls off the ball. Every so often a pitcher will hang something off speed and in the middle of the plate or slightly in that Walker can handle and get a double .
Pages has six HR, Scott has five. Walker has THREE.
And as for his defense . . . oh, never mind.
As Springsteen put it, No thanks, mister.

Re: Who would trade Walker?
Unless Walker is packaged in a blockbuster multiplayer deal, I would probably hold off at deadline and see how he plays in final two months.
With the added couple months starting, Bloom can make a decision this winter.

Re: Who would trade Walker?
You might, but BDW Jr. is not likely to sign off on an expensive extension. You think he would? I'm for trading him now with 2+ years of control left rather than wait till FA and at best get a draft pick.Goldfan wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 15:48 pmI’d roll Donny to 3b. Lack of power certainly is disappointing.okcardfan wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 15:52 pm Walker's fundamentals are still poor. Yes - dependent on the return.
