MLB needs more stories like Kurtz.
STL would certainly benefit if Wetherholt can soon be another.

He went 4th, Cardinals drafted 7th

Cags and Hagen Smith went between them.

MLB.com current #1 prospect Konnor Griffin went 9th
Kurtz was MLB's #7 prospect. (JJ was #4 for MLB.com.)
Agree that Griffin looks great.

The top 3 ranked by MLB.com:
Guardians #1 Travis Bazzana has a .793 OPS after parts of two seasons.
Chase Burns # 2 looked like he'd be good but 19 Runs (16 ER) in 21 2/3rds innings w/ Cincy = ouch.
Charlie Condon at #3 with the Rockies has a .716 OPS after parts of two seasons. The Rockies are so snake bit (Condon won the Spikes award and hit .433 average and 37 homers with 1.009 SLG before the draft (seemingly a good bet).

If we put him at third can we call him Brett?

Condon has had some wrist issues which are the death of power hitters

Condon and Bazzana got hurt.

Burns is going to be good, 35 strikeouts in those 21+ innings. He’s a 22 year old flamethrower and needs to work on his in-zone command. He already has two double digit strikeout games in his first 5 appearances.

Wouldn't that be something if your comp with Brett turned out spot on?
Can't wait for that .388 season, ha.

If he becomes a star, I give you my personal permission to call him whatever you would like.
You know I will.

Imagine a Brett like performance at third, a predominantly healthy Winn and Donovan at second. Stellar infield. Scott up the middle. Best defense in baseball.

That’s huge.

Gorman 3B, Winn SS, Wetherholt 2B, Donovan LF.
Mootbaar and N/A gone.
Saggese super utility.
One spot remains the same as now, 3 other spots are improved.
Merely by correctly leveraging pieces already on hand.

It seems Melville likes Gorman as a hitter even more than I like Burleson.

I am never for or against any player.
Completely without bias or agenda.
Instead, I simple analyze players and the roster for what they are and then explain the CORRECT BASEBALL DECISION.
Donovan is better than Mootbaar.
Wetherholt has the potential to be a star at 2b.
Winn is young, cheap, decent SS bat, and a plus SS glove - zero reason to change that.
Gorman is better than N/A and has more power than any other hitter on the team, which is needed.
Simple facts.
Nothing more.
