Sunday evening the the Cardinals will be leading the Padres in the wildcard race .
Thought with all the gloom and doom , the forum could use a positive note .. OR one that makes you ROFL your butt off.
Go Cardinals ! It would be priceless to see the expression on Mo's face if the team swept the weekend series . Mo would be sweating bullets that the team miraculously won four in a row.

A PS : Reason for Mo sweating bullets .. Be ironic for Mo if Arenado told him prior to the Padres series , 'Mo, I think I will probably waive my no trade clause but will give you my final decision on Sunday night after the Padres series . If we don't sweep, it looks like we are toast .
So Mo excited that he can trade Nado , then the team wins 4 games and Nado calls Mo .. 'Mo, I have decided NOT to waive my NTC, the team still has a shot to get a wildcard. I want to stay with the guys and try to make the playoffs.'
MO: Oh great ! Just what I didn't what to hear ... oops !

Sonny Gray tomorrow in 100° Heat. That should be interesting. He doesn't seem to tolerate heat and humidity very well.

Noticed he does sweat easily but the guy is a native of Smyrna, Tn. next to Nashville so grew up playing football /baseball sweating a ton there .
The guy is use to heat and performed well in it . He went to Vanderbilt in Nashville for baseball too .
The wild thing about this team is it wouldn’t totally shock me if they did sweep the Padres. Seems like they randomly do well at home against tough competition then get destroyed by the worst teams in the league.

And then get swept by the Marlins.
What I was trying to say much less eloquently and succinct. Nice work.

It's a lovely thought but I highly doubt it happens!

Accepting the reality that in this multi-year rebuilding that this team was never in a position to male a sustained run to post season is "gloom & doom?"

Why?
I agree. A rebuild. Wins don’t matter. The process is the focus. Currently year one. Two to go- 2027 compete.

They had a half a season of reasonably competitive ball.
