I hope Mo is spending some quality time talking trades
It's pretty obvious that there needs to be some serious selling going on before the trade deadline. For one thing, he needs to try to negotiate some NTCs. Ex. Arenado, Gray, Mikolas and Contreras.

Re: I hope Mo is spending some quality time talking trades
We have very little to offer so I doubt anything we do moves the needle. Free Agents, which means spending $$$, is the only way this team will be able to improve, and I don't expect that to happen. Next years team could be worse, hard to believe I know.
Re: I hope Mo is spending some quality time talking trades
Mo could get something for Gray, Contreras and Arenado if he can get them to waive or expand, in Arenado's case, their NTCs. Obviously, Helsley, Maton, Matz and Romero have trade value. And some teams are needing some catching help.Lightning Rod wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 15:54 pm We have very little to offer so I doubt anything we do moves the needle. I could part with those two, easily. They do have "some value", not sure what the return would be. I would really like to see Contreras go.Shady wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 15:56 pmMo could get something for Gray and Contreras if he can get them to waive their NTCs. I hope Mo is spending quality time with his old friend Girsch. Let Bloom do the real work.
Re: I hope Mo is spending some quality time talking trades
He’s one of the few that is actually playing well this month. Came into today hitting .333 with a .939 OPS over his last 54 PAs. And has an OPS close to .900 over his last 325 PAs.Lightning Rod wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 15:59 pmI could part with those two, easily. They do have "some value", not sure what the return would be. I get it, just not a fan, would like more pop at first base and someone who hits more than .240.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 16:01 pmHe’s one of the few that is actually playing well this month. Well he’s tied in HRs with Harper and Vlad Jr. and has more than Freeman and Josh Naylor. And Contreras has 26 doubles now for the season, which is 2nd to only Freeman (27) among 1B.Lightning Rod wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 16:10 pmI get it, just not a fan, would like more pop at first base and someone who hits more than .240.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 16:01 pmHe’s one of the few that is actually playing well this month. Like I said, I get it, and am not disputing or discounting his play, just think his intangibles are a negative. Not doubt others love him, but for me not so much. Just my opinion and I realize I may be in a minority.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 16:13 pmWell he’s tied in HRs with Harper and Vlad Jr. and has more than Freeman and Josh Naylor. Re: I hope Mo is spending some quality time talking trades
I would hope that Mo Tie is consulting with Bloom before making any trades.
Re: I hope Mo is spending some quality time talking trades
Contreras is too vulnerable to the strikeout to be the cleanup hitter. I realize, right now, there aren't many options there. Burleson would be OK at cleanup if he hit more home runs. Ex 25 to 30/season.Lightning Rod wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 16:20 pmLike I said, I get it, and am not disputing or discounting his play, just think his intangibles are a negative. Re: I hope Mo is spending some quality time talking trades
Home run hitters are more vulnerable to strikeouts. It's part of the tradeoff. We get it, you want Contreras gone so Burleson can take over 1B. But Contreras is happy here and going nowhere soon.Shady wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 17:10 pmContreras is too vulnerable to the strikeout to be the cleanup hitter. Re: I hope Mo is spending some quality time talking trades
Contreras has 13 HRs, Burleson has 12. Contreras, Gray and Arenado may be too happy to be with the Cardinals, right now. That could be part of what's not letting the organization move forward.Mort Gage wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 17:17 pmHome run hitters are more vulnerable to strikeouts. It's part of the tradeoff.
